Isaac Clarke's autobot audition

Can't wait for this, probably my most anticipated game except for Mafia II.

Bald? Check.
Futuristic armor? Check.
Space marine?

...Space marine?

For me it was opposite, the console controls made me sick, and the PC ones were perfect.

Why would I play a third person shooter with a gamepad? Also I don't own one. However even if I did it's besides the point. I expect it to work properly on the PC, wich in this case means responsivness from the mouse and keyboard.

^ I heard they had toned down the scariness factor because some players didnt want to go on....because it was scary. this was a few months ago so not sure if it still applies.

It's been 3 years since DS1 in the game universe...but he's gotten 10 years younger?

I got stuck on a boss and stopped playing the game. i hate games with slow controls but otherwise the 1st game was fun while it lasted

I can't wait to get this for my 360, loved the original Dead Space, comics and all, I hope they do a similar pre-release hype job for the sequel too, the viral game they did prior to the release of the original was great.

By the way, if anyone wants a link to the original trailer in HD res, http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2010-dead-space-2/101174

Also, I do agree DEATHMASTER, I was also quite shocked by how much younger he looked, maybe he had plastic surgery?

Will it be actually scary this time around?

I remember that interview as well, and that's such complete and utter bullshit. Look anyone who got scared playing this game probably jumps at their own shadow. I remember when I picked this game up the guy at the counter was like, "It's really scary; I'm at part blah-blah-blah and I'm playing with my lights off and the sound up and it freaks me out."

So I go home and never play the game without it being night, lights off, sound up.

NOT ONE. GODDAMN. SCARE. Not one.

And then I go on the internets and find out there are other people who don't think it's scary either. In fact, the majority of people don't seem to have found it scary. Then I read this interview about Dead Space 2 and they're like, "Some people thought the game was TOO scary," and that is BULLSHIT.

dead space was a good game and i'll play this too but seriously I dont know how you would make it less scary than the first. Penumbra this aint.

All those reviews saying it was "the scariest thing since resi 4", that wasnt scary either!

**** you all, I was scared shitless for the first third of the game! You just had to play at night, by yourself, in the dark, with the sound turned way up. This game is gonna be awesome; I like how they sped up the character's movements a little.

And they said that the pacing was going to be different. There will be more moments where the player feels powerful, but still plenty of scares.

Hopefully they don't tone down the scary level, but I started a second playthrough with all of my weapons (fully modded Plasma Rifle and heavily modded Cutter) along with a level 5 suit and the game seems scarier then the first time. Once the whole "I am a god with my weapon" factor got destroyed during the first necro encounter, I've been running through a lot slower.

I did, man. I did all of that. I was even sitting like hella close to my bigass TV, too. Had the surround sound going, playing it at like 1am. No scares. If you're scared of this game, you're probably the same kind of person who gets scared of Ravenholm.

Now those people, I just don't understand at all.

Also not to say that not being scary made it a bad game; I quite liked Dead Space. I just wish it was MORE scary. But they went in the opposite direction with this one. :(

I'm a pretty nervous person who will panic at the sound of most things so naturally it got to me. Everything else wasn't scary to me so much as it was just creepy. I hope they'll pull SOMETHING out in DS2 that will truly be scary instead of Isaac being a SMART MOUTHED BATTLE ENGINEER for most of the game.

Speaking of sound, you know what the best moment of Dead Space was, IMO? Being on the exterior of the ship, with NO sound. That was a perfect moment to have capitalized on scaring the player, but it didn't really happen. They were, instead, just very cool sections where you had to run like hell.

I was hoping for something like Isaac being thrown from the ship and having to somehow get back to the ship or face certain death or osmething. Space itself could have been a pretty cool enemy.

Hope so. It is Dead SPACE after all. Though the city the game takes place in is set on fragments of one of Saturn's moons, Titan, so there's potential for some action out there. For now the airlock death traps seem pretty awesome at least.

Play it on Impossible. Abandon all hope.

This, personally in my opinion, the only way to finish it on the hardest difficulty(which I haven't gotten around to yet) is to just focus on one weapon, sell your other shit and keep getting as much upgrades and ammo for your one weapon as possible.

I'm going to be perfectly honest here. I didn't even get past that part at the beginning when you're repairing the tram and shit. There's one room you walk into where a slasher climbs up the railings directly in front of you and one or two more appear at your side. You make a run for it to the elevator or the catwalk and more just start busting out of vents. They can take you down in 2 hits. It takes 2 to 3 hits with the plasma cutter just to remove a limb. It's tough.

God I love it.

This too :)

The developers also said that there would be a ton of epic moments like the train scene in Uncharted 2.

To everyone who says the game isnt scary: it really depends on the person. Not everyone are scared of horror movies, but some people are. All my friends can watch horror movies without a problem, they even laugh while watching them. I can not watch horror movies. No really, i LITERALLY CANT. Think of it as a bad trip on Salvia or LSD ( but not to the full extent ofcourse), its that mental breakdown feeling i get, and feel emotionally drained for several days afterwards.

I love horror games tho, because i am allowed to quit whenever i want, and i control what i do in the game, what i see and where i go, its a sense of comfort. Dead Space and Condemned were amazing experiences for me.

Still dont understand how people get scared in games? Take a look at Mesh (check the thread). While most people arent at that level of pussyness, it proves that it effects everyone different. So stop saying that the game isnt scary...its not scary FOR YOU and others, but it IS SCARY for some people.

so what we've all established in this thread is some people find some things scary, and some folk don't

proud of you, detectives2.net

"ah ya ya i wasnt afraid of ravenholm the first time i played hl2 ya ya..... course not"
