Isaac Clarke's autobot audition

Dead Space's problem is its reliance on cheap scares, like "BOO here's a necromorph in the closet!" System Shock 2 spoiled me, I must say. Ishimura just isn't as scary as the Von Braun, I think it just tries too hard with the gloomy gothic aesthetic and blood splattered everywhere.

TBH, the one station that had candles and symbols all over the floor was kinda scary, in part because of the little girl singing "twinkle twinkle" somewhere in the distance. Would've been cool if she was real/findable.

I thought the game did a pretty good job of creating an atmosphere, even if it did lay it on thick (which, after watching Event Horizon, I can see where they get it from). The closet scares were kind of annoying in the first third or so, but after a while they just became a part of the game and you dealt with them - they certainly weren't as overbearing as something like Doom 3. The best moments, to me, were when the game pitted you against seemingly insurmountable odds. There was a sense of urgency to some parts that was pulled off brilliantly - the same sort of thing that made the town scene at the start of Resi 4 so effective. It might not have been scary very often, but it did tense quite well most of the time.

The encounters with the Hunter the first run through got me good. I hate being chased by things in any game, especially if it can't be killed by standard means.

why is it coming out in 2011?!
damn them

I hope replaying DS and DSE on xbl will keep me going til then . . .

Actually, the "twinkle twinkle" song isn't scripted to only that part of the game, you can get it early on as well, it plays at random times throughout the game, though I most often seem to get it when riding the various elevators etc in the game.
