I mean it's an awesome class-based team game..
All the classes can support each other with good teamplay and everything is ok..

Yes, DOD has never recieved the attention it deserves from most people.

Agreed, before Tf2 came this was my favorite multiplayer game.

DoD 1.3 is underrated, DoD:S can burn in hell.

Whats that bad at DOD:S (except for most of the community)
Both DOD's are good..quite different but good.

Nothing feels right, the automatic guns have horrid recoil causing me to wrestle with the mouse, the useless iron sights for the grenadier class... seriously they're the worst implementation of iron sights I've ever seen, and then they also take away their melee and give it to the thompson/mp40 class in the form of punching?!

The list could go on.

I do like the remade maps though.

Grendier ? there is no iron sight for anyone except from rifleman..

Well then he's iron sight is good, I kill easily with it all the time.

I wouldn't say it's under-rated. Tis a good game but nothing ground breaking.

DODS is horrible compared to its half life predecessor. Not only did the halflife version have more classes and weapons, maps were grittier etc but the game had a much better feel to it. In DODS you feel like you are gliding around on skates, the weapons handle poorly with insane cone of fire on the autos. They removed just about everything I loved about DOD from the source version like rifle melee strikes among other things. Their theory was if they changed things up it would still keep the die hard dod fans but also attract new players which is STUPID. Pretty much all the die hards from dod do not like the source version at all including myself, and when you realize you die in the game not because you did not have your xhair on the enemy but the game decided to make you miss it is at that time most players realize dods sucks and throw in the towel. About the only thing they did not screw up is the sniper class but thats not enough for me to stick around. I hate dods and what they did to it...

DODS can be a very fun game.At first I thought it was a mess, but I gave it a chance and it turned out to be a realy good game.
It dosen't stand up to DOD though, but then again not many games do in my opinion.

DoD died the moment 1.0 came out and they removed the swaying crosshair.

I loved both versions. Better memories with the first, but I still enjoyed DOD:S. I wish it got more attention from valve though, because it got pretty stale.

If DoD was what it could be, there would be a lot more threads in here.

I still play and enjoy DOD:S to this day......still my favorite FPS

I like it. My only quibble is that the KAR is too powerful.

I think it's great.

If only I could get ONE kill a map!

The difficulty of this game is so high that casual play is out of the question.

While I think it's really smart and entertaining, it lacks in originality and appeal to people who aren't hardcore fans.

I loved DOD, but DOD source has issues.

I shot a real M1 garand, and i study guns etc.

I know in fact that you should die from the garand in 2 hits if not one, in DODS it takes 3 to 4 hits to kill someone. That is where it started to go wrong.

It's fun occasionally but i would never have bought it as a stand alone game. (i got it for free when bought CS:S)

i bought this as standalone. i still play it. its alot more tactical than css

I agree that it's a good game but there are far too many WW2 games and it isn't really much different to others.

this is a great game. i really enjoyed playing the original dod but i was never really any good at the game so i stopped playing source. reason i didnt like it was that i could never master the recoil. its realsitic but i just cant play it like i can with counter strike.

It was great when it first came out. Valve left it to oneside now though and playing the same maps over and over gets a bit dull.

I hardly ever play the maps that came with the game anyway. I play custom made maps.

I feel DoD:S misses the point. It's like it can't decide what it wants to be - A tactical shooter or an arcade FPS - because it has elements of both. Though it's somewhat too hard for casual players, it doesn't satisfy true tactical shooter fans either because it's not realistic enough. It makes compromises to occupy this middle ground and feels a bit watered down as a result. You can't cater to everyone.

DoD was at least somewhat realistic from what I hear (I never played it myself), but DoD:S mostly throws that out the window with all sorts of absurd design choices. In the first place, why is it that you can use the iron sights on a rifle but not any other weapon? Yes, real soldiers did actually use the sights on their submachineguns. Iron sights, all across the board or not at all, that's how it should be. Even Call of Duty got this right.
