A lot of people have downloaded the Source SDK in the past couple days. Naturally, everyone has lots of questions about things they want to do, but are unsure how to implement.

By far the most common concern I hear, from people new to Hammer, is "yes, Hammer is great, but can I have a pile of mans, with a spinning scientist above them, a platform which shuffles them around, and a target on the wall which lights everyone on fire?" I'm so tired of hearing this. Yes, it can be done already, jeez.

Note: the video is 5MB .wmv and not really worth watching :).

That it quite possibly the most wonderful thing I've seen today!

ROFL!!! Now you need to realease the map so we can play with it... :)

How do you get fires working?
The "Ignite" input :).

Thanks for the replies. I hope my next creations are not so silly.

Piles of burning scientist being whipped around like pancakes > all

but please explain , like how you got the scientists on fire and such

That was amazing, but I demand a tutorial or at least the source file.

. Hardly amazing, but here you go!

That just shows how to make a simple button, a ragdoll, and an input/output event. There's no sound, and it's pretty ugly a fast-moving.

As for the useless platform, I learned how to do that from a site which I'm not allowed to mention here. Just tried the URL, and it gets blocked. I only discovered the site two days ago; apparently they learned everything from the stolen build, so it's a no-no to link, which I think is fair, though unfortunately it's one of the few sites I've found with great tutorials.

HTH.

[EDIT]
It doesn't seem to load up in Firefox, so here is a direct link to the (.swf). Best to just, *shudder*, use IE, or wget the whole mess.
