AND spent a few minutes in the dryer. It turns on but the background is weird looking and I have no audio. (the button to turn the audio up makes it shut off) So it's basically destroyed.

Here's my question:

if I zap this thing for a few seconds in the microwave, will that fix the water stamp thing they put in it? I know this has worked with previous ipods but I have never heard of it working with the itouch. I'm trying to avoid paying another 400 dollars, naturally.

Thanks friends!

Don't you have a warranty for it?

Warranties usually dont cover water damage, hence him asking about the water stamp. Same for cellphones.

The water stamps turn red when they get damp so naturally they won't revert back to the normal white whatever you do.

An iTouch in the microwave? ... I don't know man. This idea is so crazy; it may work, or may set the house on fire.

But something tells me, circuit-boards and microwave will not play nice.
If this idea (iPod in the Microwave) worked with iPods, and for some reason warranty is no use, it may, or may not work with iTouch, it may even put the device out of it's misery. Either way, I'm leaving this one up to you. Calculate and think of what is at stake.

Good Luck.

I think using a hair dryer may be the better solution. If there is any still any moisture in it then the Microwave is going to make it a whole lot worse. When my phone fell in the sink i removed the battery, and used the hair dryer on it. After a few days is was a good as new. You should always avoid using it just after it's got wet, leave it of for a week atleast. Every time you switch it on you are causing more and more damage.

YOu shouldn't have turned it on. MOST cases if you just turn it off, remove the battery and let it dry out for a couple days, it may come back to life. That's what I've done with every phone/mp3 player I've had and it's worked.

isnt it really difficult to get the battery out of the itouch?

also how one earth can you not miss a bulky object in your pants when washing clothes?

Actually put it in the oven, it tastes much better afterwards.

remove the battery

Can't do it with any Apple product. :p

But you could try and have it dry out itself. There's no guarantee that thing is ever coming back to life. Glad my iPod Touch is still one hundred percent perfect, and I got it upon it's first availability.

NOOOOOOOO *Shakes fist at Apple*

Its bricked anyways, just throw that shit in the microwave and see what happens.

I once washed my ipod in the wash. I put it out in a sunny place for about 3 days, and contacted apple, saying it was a hardware failure. They sent me a box, and I sent it in. They sent a new one in about 1-2 weeks.

I just got lucky, I guess.

.....preety sure you can do it with the 1st to 4th gens, maybe even 5th

...Pretty sure you have to rip apart your iPod. It's not as easy as.... unlatch battery, profit.

It's more like, unscrew several tiny screws, carefully remove backplate to keep from damaging the exterior shell, etc.. etc..

Make an new EBAY account, sell or buy one cheap item real quick, get that 100% positive feedback and then sell the iTouch. if anything and all else fails, open it up and try messing around with the junk inside, some of those parts still may be recoverable and you may learn something cool in the process

On the ipodtouch / iphone the only way to take off the back is to smash it profusely.
I dropped my iphone once and the back started to pop off. I poked around inside and it's really cool in there.

You suck dude.
That's a horrible thing a person can do to another.

Yep. With my iPod Touch, even if I wanted to see what the innards are like, I'd risk ****ing EVERYTHING up. It be a baddddddddddddddddd move on me part if I did want to open it.

It didn't do anything to mine, but if you open it more than about half a centimeter you will **** it all up since some of the circuitry is on the other side, so it's got circuitry on both sides of the innards.
