It's illegal to be fat in Japan

FTA: (how is a six foot tall foreigner supposed to have a 33-inch waist?),
I'm 6 foot 1, and I have a 32 inch waist!

But that's a really good idea to fine the company as opposed to the person. Gives companies more incentive to keep their employees healthy.

Sumo wrestlers will still be around. The law only applies to people seeking National Healthcare. Those that have private insurers can be as fat as they want.
