So I click the link (snap confirmed my e-mail address.....whatever) and it asked for my login and password, which immediately sent up red flags because Firefox likes to remember my passwords.
So I look at the address bar and this is basically what I saw:
123.123.12.1://ebay.com/blahblahblah.html
I decided that entering my password was a bad idea and closed the page.

Evil kids :(

Anyway post your random computer security stories.

Dude, that email was riddled with grammatical mistakes; and I'm 17 ;) Plus, it's always useful to check the link first.

Use Thunderbird ;) *phishing scams*

no, I didn't have thoughts about Miccy, or covering "her" in honeymustard and then making sweet love, or anything like that...

*looks around*

I get e-mails like that almost daily. Same thing from my bank as well.

If one of you lot ever do "accidentally" click one of those fraud email links and "accidentally" (read: stupid) enter your information, then I do recommend you review information regarding a potential account compromise situation on eBay and review this link, I also recommend using the "Live Help" link on the page to receive more information and assistance from a Live eBay Representative:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/isgw-account-theft-reporting.html

I'd swear the FADE security system is a anti-piracy system...

but that doesn't matter.

Does anything from the internet legitimately ever ask you to enter your password and details?

You're a guy...? I always read Miccy as "Missy"... damn, I feel dumb.
Don't feel bad, you aren't the first.

Okay...that would be a first -_-

The link was www.ebay.com/etc.
And it was 10 at night, I'm quite bad at detecting grammatical errors.

HL2.net does!
Oh wait..
