I dont know if you care, but Apple made iTunes for Windows. And its very nice. "I lik` i` a lo`" Has some nice radio stations. Good looking. Actually i like it better than Winamp now.

:afro:

iTunes is awesome. The sound quality is amazing. You can have different equalizer settings for each and every song. The online store is really nice too, there are tons of songs and it only cost $0.99 for a song, of $9.99 for a "CD". It takes a while to rip MP3s of your CDs though.

Back when I was using Mac OSX I was wondering when they would make iTunes for Windows. Now my dream has come true. I have not downloaded this yet, but I hope it has the same radio stations from the Mac version, those were excellent.

I downloaded it to have a quick look and I concur....the sound quality is great, previews load as fast as lightning. Unfortunately they haven't made it available to the UK yet. Anyone make any guesses as to why and when it might be functional for us brits?

I already downloaded a song just to see how good it is...and I was shocked at how good the sound was.
I'm definitly going to be buying a LOT of music through this.

I live in Norway and they just say that its not available here yet. No word when it is either. Probably available at the same time in the rest of main Europe when that happens. I think it depends of how many people download it in Europe, how the word spreads you know. 7 kroner (1 dollar) is not all that bad for a song, like 10 bucks for a very good quality CD. Not bad. Although if you pay 15 bucks you can get the permanent CD instead.

Now if it costs 5 bucks for a complete CD in download format... i think i would go crazy! Very good app! About time too!

Yep, Apple created a compression codec that is much better quality than MP3. I may download some songs, but it is so very nice to have the actual CD itself.

I don't know. If I'm gona pay for music then I'd rather buy a CD. Unless it's significantly cheaper.

$.99 per song i believe, or like 9.99 for a a whole album (i think).

Yeah, I like buying cd's -- I think, if you really like a band then you should support them by buying their cd's (although a significant amount of the sales is probably going to the record label and not to the band itself); but then, if the record label isn't making money off of your buying the cd's, then the bands won't be able to put their music out for you. So, I usually buy the cd just out of respect for the band; if I think it's a great band, then they deserve my money.
Besides, you get the nice-looking cd and the nice book with lyrics or whatever they put in it and the official cd case. I guess it's kinda like how people want to get the cd case, manual, and box with half-life 2 instead of just downloading it off steam -- get a tangible sign that it's yours.

i dunno, u can only burn it or copy the file so many times b4 u can't anymore.... they got sum new copy protection on iTunes music

I've never seen anything to indicate there's a limit on burns for iTunes....not that it matters anyway. Once you have it on CD its not exactly hard to mess with it.
Edit: There is a 10 time limit to burn the smae playlist over and over again. But why you'd need the same CD 10 times is beyond me.

yes, the limit on the same playlist is the only limit i recall hearing about, but once you burn it once you could just copy it again with nero or alcohol 120% or whatever else you have handy.

I think that limit is sensible, and it's to stop people making a buisness out of downloading music and then burning it.

I hate WinAmp personally, much prefer Windows Media Player :D

Everybody who hates Winamp is most likely using version 3.

This is true...but at the end of the day, its not that difficult to workaround really. All you need to do is find a program that has sound recording capability, then switch its input controls from your microphone to your system sound (Wave/DirectSound I think). Make sure to mute the Mic/line in. As an example, try listening to some streaming radio from the net and use windows default sound recorder to get the sound ... lossless, piece of cake, convert to MP3 after.

Only prob is the windows one only does 60 secs recording I believe. If I need to record sys sound I use cooledit pro.
