Your post has also made me reconsider my choice and I too have decided to buy the silver edition instead. Thank you for posting.

Actually it hasnt but it might shut all this lot up who think its a useless thread but then post so it stays at the top of the board *cough*postcounters*cough*

Your obviously decisive decision is one to behold, perhaps you should be president.

I dont know, Lucky,. first he wants the CE,. now he wants the Silver Edition. Sounds like a flip-flopper to me.

A strong leader stands by his decisions, no matter how the circumstances change.

to be fair, kerry would buy both the ce and the silver, AND the bronse and gold editions. That way he agrees with everyone! That, and hes a frikken billionaire.

So when he drives into a brick wall, he can say "yeah I did that, and I'd do it again, and I'm damn proud of it"

EDIT: Lets leave the politics out if it starts to get serious

now, if this was a canadain descionmaker, he would of been hit by a pie and have his house broken in and robbed while he slept, but he would of made the right descion in the end and stick with it!

I'd dont care. I'm still gonna get the regular box. Call me old fashioned, but I like those boxs and manuals(Blizzard ones are the best), if for some reason your comp needs to be reformaded, and you forget your steam account and/or password your money is GONE!

Exactly :) See, its his conviction, its what he feels in his gut.

Using your metaphor, at the wheel, he felt that driving into the wall was the right thing to do. And the fact that he suffered a flail chest and hemothorax, brain contusions and a broken femer does not change how he feels about the decision. No circumstances could sway him!

You're no fun :(

If you lose your account/pass, you're still screwed if you want to play multiplayer, or any mods, or get updates.

Steam is the wave of the future, y0. I'm goin Gold, baby.

Thats true, in 5 years it will be the norm, box games will be antiques, and the new controversial way to get games is just to shoot them up your veins with a needle

And we'll have flying cars and travel through tubes and we'll have machines where you can just tell it what you want to eat and it will appear and aliens! space aliens will come visit and live among us!!

No really. Steam is far better. When you cut retailers and producers out of the equasion, it means more games, better games, cheaper games.

Still worried about forgetting that login/pass? Get it tattooed on your ass. :D

Sounds great. This person would have to be so bull-headed in their thinking, that no new information could make them re-evaluate or deviate from prior decisions, no matter how ill-fated and asinine they were/are. Who is this immovable, monument to stupidity? :|

Faster delivery, no deadlines, only pressure and outside influence is from fans, no rushs

I dont see what the puplishers really do. The develoeprs make the game, manufactures mass produce the game, puplishers were always just middlemen who pulled strings

Yet anouther reason why dialup users need tos witch to cable. Imagine downlaoding 6-7 gigs(plus mods it would easily be over 10 gigs a few months after release) on a 56k!

Don't you mean strong leader? :D Oh how I love satire.
(Did you reg just to post that?)

Yep,. and yet I could grab that overnight on my very standard cable connection. Unfortunatly its just not possible for all,. I dont think we'll ever be entirely rid of producers/retailers. But their roll will shrink, as will their influence over devs/deadlines/stalling/etc.

I dont really mind puplishers, except they take a big piece of the money and bully around the game designers

Not really. I have an old account, but I've been unable to retrieve my lost password.

I considered that you were being sarcastic, but it's hard to judge these days. Some people believe what you've described is an asset. :stare:

True,. I really did mean this statement to be subtly ridiculous:
"A strong leader stands by his decisions, no matter how the circumstances change."
Because of course circumstances are relivant. But I think some may have taken it to heart ;)
I like your phrasing, though. But lets drop it before this thread gets closed :D

/me queus hi-jack thread music

did u miss the thread on whether Valve should abandon 56K'ers?
i remember alot of pple saying how annoy it is to play vs these "special beasts" but also said something about it being unfair to ignore them at this point in time.

i think the broadband connection vs 56K is a circular arguement honestly because alot of the 56K'ers are mostly living in old areas of cities and don't have the broadband services which suburbians enjoy.

Cheers, DrFreeman :)
I do remember that thread. And I have respect for the plight of the 56k'er,. my friend lives in a broadband free area and the best he can do is about 28.8. However, I do think catering to modem users stalls progress (a lot more could happen with 30k/s instead of 3k/s) and detracts from the broadband experience (I have noticed server lag in CS:S due to 300+pings). There seemed to be a general consensus in that thread however that I think was spot-on; let the server decide.

and how many servers do u think would have the option for the 56K enabled? ;)

circular discussion, yeeeeah

Fine! I'll say it! Screw the 56kers,. who needs 'em!

IMO onlly let broadband and cable users play source games and then the 56'kers who wonna play steam games should go and get sattellite boradband which is available anywere in the world (expencive tho) then all people who payed for broadband dont need 2 see some lagg monster warping around the screen :D

Satellite internet connections speed up downloads, but don't help at all with online gaming - all outgoing (uploading) information still goes through a dialup connection.
