The Japanese don't eat whale meat, the Japanese are in no danger of starving without it, whale meat has high levels of toxins, it apparently is an acquired taste, many Japanese youth who arguably outweigh the handful of whale munchers are interested in the wellbeing and preservation of wildlife and whales and all that good modern ecologically responsible things, there is absolutely nothing cultural about a modern whaling vessel steaming down to the south Indian ocean where no feudal Japanese whaler has ever known existed let alone been to, and needlessly killing whales just for some international political penis exhibiting, its just pathetic and so beyond wasteful its beyond belief.

They already eat everything and anything they can find from the ocean, surely considering all the above they can live without some ****ing poisonous whale meat.

If certain species of whales are not on a endangered list then why not hunt them to the brink of extinction. Just think, if whales are allowed to bread like rabbits where is all of the water going to go?

Whales are probably good eatin' to the japs. Oh well. They should really have "farms" for this sort of thing though imo instead of fishing the ocean dry. I've heard of fish farms, but don't know if it's possible with whales though.

Doubtful, or I think they would have done it. IN any case, Whaling as a whole is generally regarded as an extinction-level method of hunting - it's not sustainable, like fishing is.
