JBMod v0.1 (Working physgun) [RELEASE]

Physgun? Someone'll have to explain to me what that is- I gather it's the "trailing tractor beam" version of the default HL2 Gravity Gun, but doesn't it also include Welder features, or is that an entirely seperate entity?

Not sure about the "morals" of playing a modification that uses content presumably taken from/inspired by the leak, but meh, I'll probably try this out when I get the chance.

The content is not from the leak it is based on the leak.

its in the sdk you dumbass^^ not inspired by the leak.

apparently this guy is going to release more from the leak. Like 'flaregun' and 'iceaxe' :/

its all in the sdk. you can make em too if you know the language of cpp.

Why is that a bad thing?

Valve left the code in the SDK for us to create things from, what do you expect?

It says that the server.dll is a debug build, and won't run.

Yeah Im having problems, I guess we did kinda rush him - atleast its a start :D

On hl2world forums he said he forgot to compile, and he will be releasing a compiled version very soon.

Heh, I'd of been prepared to play it even if it was taken directly from the leak- wouldn't have bothered me too much. Guess by "leak" he just meant "dropped weapons included with the SDK", but I'm doing pretty well considering I don't even know for sure what the Physgun actually is. What's confusing me is the fact that the Gravity Gun's console name (i.e., entity) is actually weapon_physgun aynway.

Nice job calling people a dumbass without trying to explain, it's times like this I'm so glad to be a part of this community :D

Sorry to sound n00bish, but how do I install this? Do I backup the "HL2" directory in Steam/steamapps/<my name>/Half-life 2 and replace it with this, after naming it "hl2"?

You put it in Yourname/half-life 2. Then place a shortcut to hl2 on your desktop and add this to the command line. "-game jbmod"

Ha, I stand corrected... whole thing still confuses the hell out of me. Admittedly no one can get this to work yet either, but meh, one step at a time...

Yourname/half-life 2/hl2 the put the command line -game jbmod in your hl2 shortcut.

I know he's compiling it (or whatever he forgot to do), but can someone explain to me what the SDK version actually does, or does no one else know yet either?

Oh, and as for the whole "leak" thing, I was referring to the fact that the SDK includes (presumably) dropped content also present in the leak. It was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek comment

I also wonder just how much of the unused content will appear in expansion packs, if anything...

The SDK version is exactly the same as the video shown at e3.

You can pick up anything (within weight anyway) and the blue band bends accordingly.

You can also weld things together, right click and it puts a blob somewhere, put another blob somewhere and put them near each other and they'll spark and then combine.

Me and shuzer managed to make a bridge across the whole e3 demo level :D Id post a pic but Id be banned

Example.

Heheh, that does sound pretty neat. It's probably the single most missed tool from the leak for me. Nevermind the actual use in SP or MP, it just sounded stupidly cool!

wow.... weldign things together? that sounds amazing!

ill probally try it tommorrow- dont have time now.

bah, still can't get it to work, the maps just seem to take longer to load.

how do you install it? do you do that shortcut mod thing?

I get a "no gameinfo.txt in jbmod!" error. Even though there IS a gameinfo.txt in jbmod.

good question. His talking about the half-life 2 shortcut created by steam right?
