Wow, you can't make this shit up:

"A new group of atheists has arisen in society. Called the new atheists, they are not content to keep their views to themselves. Rather, they are on a crusade, 'actively, angrily, passionately trying to persuade the religious to their point of view,' wrote columnist Richard Bernstein. Even agnostics are in their sights, for these new atheists allow no room for doubt." - The opening paragraph from the latest issue of Jehovah Witnesses' Awake Magazine. How's that for some hilarious hypocrisy?

"If you believe in a God, you're going to hell"

Guh don't get started Jehovah's Witnesses...

"How dare they be on the march. We're the marchy ones!"

Oh also, atheism and agnosticism are not mutually exclusive. Atheism is just as synonymous with the rejection of belief (as most people use it) as it is with the mere absence of belief. Agnosticism is the position that the existence of a deity is not knowable and therefore cannot be verified as true or false. A completely sensible view, but not one that precludes atheism.

Not trying to make a point by saying so (I really don't care for such labels), just saying.

I went to school with a Jehovah's Witness. It was crap. Our class could only have a Hallowe'en party every other year so as not to be unfair to her. All the other kids would be dressed up as pirates and fairies and totally high on sugar and we'd be stuck wearing our uniforms and not eating junk food like every other day. She could never come to our birthday parties either. It's a crazy religion.

Ugh, yes. My dad was raised as a Jehova's Witness, never had a party or a Christmas or anything in his childhood. He all but refuses to talk about it to other people, but what I do know is that he won't step foot in a church ever again unless it's a wedding or a funeral. Most of that side of the family no longer practices it anymore (instead are crazy near-Amish Mennonites), but I have an aunt who I have never met once in my life, she still practices the religion and have shunned my father and his family. Nice to know that I'll never get the chance to meet my own first cousins!

once,I lived very nearby to the headquarters of the national associations of jehova witnesses so you may guess what I think of them

Their (Jehovah's Witnesses) opinion about this certainly doesn't merit much, given their own behavior along these lines, but anyone trying to force or push their religious or philosophical ideas on someone else is something I don't care for either.

How about their corporate ideas as to what products you should buy? You ok with that?

I don't think I've ever come across this personally - seems like you'd only be exposed to that once you were in the club?

Oh my. How I hate the Jehovah's Witness... I don't even know where to begin.

If I were to meet one ever, I'd tell them to actually read some history about their "religion" and about where their great values and ideas came from.

GRR.

Suit jacket and pants must always match as part of a complete suit.

Sport jacket and slacks not permitted.

Shoes must be polished (I had to go home and change shoes once).

Shirt should be white or close to white (i.e. no dark colored dress shirts).

Do not wear bright colored suits or suits with more than one color (not including pin stripes).

Tie should not be bright colored or have too many colors.

Pants should have cuffs (this was recommended, not a rule).

Suit jacket must be buttoned up at all times (although you may wait until you begin speaking to button up your jacket).

Never put your hand in your pocket, even for one second.

Legs must be close together (his exact words were "do not have a HORSE stance").

Heels must be together but toes should be slightly apart

If you are holding a microphone, the microphone must be point just above the chin, not at the mouth.

If you are holding a microphone, do NOT put the other hand in your pocket (I cannot stress this enough, they WILL get you for this).

Do not lean on the lectern (podium, pulpit).

Whew! Strict dress-code guidelines straight from the Presiding Overseer. Jah loves the neat and tidy. This is more of a "Society Club" than a Christian Congregation.

Does anyone know why JWs refuse military service?

they refuse a lot of things from birthday to natioanl simbols,I remenber in my country in school teacher got mad cuz one of the girls who was jehova witness didnt stand up for the hymn,is common we stand up while the hymn is playing

Meh, their loss (and 3 years in prison).

When did Krynn turn into a hippy? Noice.

Yeah, like, fight corporate greed and the Man, man.

Why are you two saying I'm a hippy? I'm merely pointing out hypocrisy, because I'm argumentative like that.

I don't think I've ever come across this personally - seems like you'd only be exposed to that once you were in the club?

You've never come across an advertisement before? Absolutely astounding!

oh... I thought you meant some kind of Jehovah Witness variety of capitalism. The difference (for me) between corporate marketing being in your face and extreme religious marketing is that rejecting one means I throw out a piece of junk mail, choose not to purchase a magazine, or ignore a billboard, as opposed to having someone tell me that I'm a bad person who will burn in hell, and will perhaps try to harm me. Corporations try to tell me what to buy to make a buck, religion tries to tell me how to live because I'm a bad person if I don't.

It's more like "Your daughter will die unless you buy this baby formula full of Fluoride."

But that's borderlining my NWO-related beliefs.

So its all hunky-dory if its about money, but **** them if they're doing it for a misguided attempt to help.

I never really understood why people get upset when others say you're going to hell.

Maybe they think it's insulting.

I don't see how it could be. I find it just as offensive as if someone were to say "You're going to become immortal and be sent to Mercury so you can burn forever!" Meaning, I would find the notion silly to the point where I couldn't even take them seriously, let alone get upset by them.

Its all a load of shit, how could you possibly take a statement like that (the hell one, not the mercury one) seriously, in any capacity? The only possible reason would be because they might be implying that you're a bad person because you don't adhere to the rules of their faith. Which is still bullshit, because their rules are arbitrary, extremely contested and entirely irrelevant, making any sort of morality grading system a futility. Anybody with a modicum of intelligence and any semblance of confidence in their own beliefs would laugh at the notion of being sent to hell for breaking any religions' rules.

I dunno, I don't really care. If they think I'm going to hell, ok, they can wallow in their own delusion.

Exactly, I don't care if they tell me I'm going to hell, because I'm not, because there's no such thing.

My ex girlfriend was a Jehovah's Witness. lets just say because of my recklessness and help she got kicked out. i feel its one of my greatest accomplishments. its like freeing the mind, and i intend to do it again

I believe they have a general thing about not listening to the authority of any nation or one other than God and therefore shouldn't be doing any sort of service for a country or government, especially not killing for them.

When religion drives people to want to harm/kill other people because they're different, I have a problem with that. Few if any marketing programs go this far. Both of their advertisements are surely easy to ignore, but while one can choose not to buy someone's product, one can't choose not to be persecuted for who they are.

The day Mickey D's shows up at your door step to tell you that you are an abomination to God let us know.

I don't get offended by someone that tells me I'm going to hell. I just don't like random clowns showing up at my door step unannounced.

When you go to complain, do they hide under the table and pretend that they're not in?

I hate that Jehovas witnesses leave paperwork at your doorstep.. in the whole neighborhood.

Then the wind blows and theres trash everywhere from the papers they left at noon when most of the neighborhood is out. Why dont they get cited for littering?

never went to complaint,it was big whit bunch of grassed space that contrasted whit the dry mountain behind and looked very luxurious, probably have some armed guards inside

How about when nationalism does it?

That stinks too, but I'm trying to keep the thread from derailing too much.

But that has nothing to do with the advertisement of the religion. Companies make products that are known to be harmful in many ways. You don't buy their product, you don't join the religion.

Both of their advertisements are surely easy to ignore, but while one can choose not to buy someone's product, one can't choose not to be persecuted for who they are.

Again you're combining two things into one. You can avoid buying a product, you can avoid joining a religion. You can't avoid the impact a product has when other people buy it, you can't avoid the impact a religion has when other people join it.
