I've been looking for a summer job for about a month now, with no luck. Anybody else in the same boat?

Yeah I have to get a job in the coming months. The IT sector actually looks promising, but I'd be happy in a call center. Need it for rent and food.

Wanted a computer job but just today got one at a pharmacy.

Yes. I've been looking since november... and I finally got a job yesterday at Jamba Juice in emeryville.

I've been there before. Luckily I was able to find profs to do research with at my university/elsewhere for a couple of summers (this is actually a very easy job to get if you're in school). Now I have a "job" as a graduate research/teaching assistant which pays tuition and a stipend, although apartment rent alone already takes up half that. For the past couple of days I've been trying to think of ways to skimp on food/electricity. There also aren't many positions open for professors so I'm a little scared of what will happen after I get out of grad school. Can't complain though as I consciously chose this over an offer for a real (but potentially boring) job.

Anyhow, good luck on your job hunt.

Seems like most of the places that usually hire teenagers are either not hiring at all, or the positions have been filled by adults. Recessions suck.

Just got a new job starting next week. $16 an hour! WOOHOO! I'm gonna have a car by the end of summer!

Doing packing and shipping at a prosthetics warehouse.

I got hooked up through a temp agency called "Randstad". If your having trouble finding a job then I highly recommend you join a temp agency. Sure the jobs can be shit, but if your desperate for money, then you can't complain.

Unfortunately I'm 16, and thus inelligible for most of the jobs a temp agency has to offer. Glad to hear you guys got hired though!

I quit my full-time job in mid-April so I could go back to school full-time and just find a part-time job... yeeeah, the part-time job hasn't happened yet. I'm not settling for like McDonald's or some shit like that, but I've still put in quite a lot of apps to no avail.

Good god, I'm doing almost exactly the same thing for just $7.50 an hour. Even when I worked as a NASA intern I only made $14.75

yeah, been looking for a job since my job gives me only 6 hours a week, and they actually have to cut back hours.

yay.

though I think I got a job at Pizza Hut :D.

Already have a job. Not a terribly stable environment, but i have one for the next few months at least.

Recently got a job after putting in 10 or so applications around town (small town); but I think the wait will be worth it.

Going for a resume drop tommorrow. Maybe I'll get a job at JBHiFi, they're like the only company still growing in this downturn.

the one guy who's had luck with jobs clearly isn't in the U.S.. Jerk. :D

I've got three applications out right now. A California Pets, a Fry's Electronics, and Best Buy.

I sorta saw how fortunate I even am to get my job. My parents work there so they had the influence over their management pals to recommend me. When I sat down to tell her my info, she pulled up my record of over 30 people who had applied around the same time as me. Someone even called in middle of all this asking for a job and she said they only might have some temp cashier positions.

Yeah, been having a little trouble, but at least I've got some gigs on the side to keep me afloat, and maybe some lessons.

I work at the Black Mesa Research Facility, in New Mexico.

I can't give details about what they do down there, but it's a great place to work, and they are still hiring!

You should get a job there, and tell em' that Mr. Pancake sent you. ;)

I've been at my job going on 9 months now. Getting a promotion in the coming weeks to Assistant Manager.

No longer Assistant to the Assistant Manager!

My situation is a little hard as i love in a country were i dont speak the language. However, the American Airforce base has plenty of job openings, one if which i applied to and awaiting confirmation.

Ugh, nothing at the moment. I don't even know where to start. Anybody have some good suggestions for a guy still in highschool?

I had a full time job last year in a factory. I hated it. Now I have a part time in a fast food/kebab place. I miss the factory. I'm glad to be working though and I've just asked for more hours due to being on holidays from uni.

Got a job as a mailman...or "letter carrier" to be more PC...whatever...It's an easy job, payment's not good but at least it's something.

I applied to be a lifeguard at an amusement park first, and they took me. Now I'm learning how to be bored and heroic at the same time.

I lost a cleaning job because some other buggers tendered a cheaper quote for the job. The next day my work experience place rang me and told me they needed help. Now I can work whatever days I want for $20/hour. I'm happy as :D

You should look into Assassaning.

Get it?

Ass-Ass-ening.

I'm in the market for a new job as well. I wishing I could find something in IT too, but there's no need for any IT techs in this mud hole in the middle of Florida.

I just need to move tbh. :p

To the other three who voted 'Will work for ... cake?', I'm not hiring anyone without previous experience.
