JPEG to VMT ?

paint only saves as .bmp and .jpeg ...

-dodo

True. There therefore there will never be any good textures, we will only have mediocre ones.

Why would you want to turn a jpeg into a text document?

hahha ... use a program like irfanview or gimp (freeware) to convert the jpg to tga then use a tga to VTF converter. if you're painting your textures in paint you have MUCH bigger problems at hand..

yeah if you have no $ get gimp, even if just for the graphic conversions

for the most part you dont want to make a compressed format a vmt

You dont' want to make anything but a txt document into a vmt. Please learn your formats.

I want to convert it for a env_screenoverlay and i cant find any way to do it...like convert my own picture.

Simple

Just Download VTFEDIT: http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?p=41 , Then you import your image, and then save your .bmp, .jpg, etc. as a .VTF(Valve texture file)

Now, put the .VTF in:
# \Steam\steamapps\(your username)\team fortress 2\tf\materials\VGUI\logos

# Then you convert your .vtf file into a .vmt trough VTFEDIT and put the the converted file here:
# \Steam\steamapps\(your username)\team fortress 2\tf\materials\VGUI\logos\UI

Check if you not had disable the spray feature, should works fine.

Lolwut? You don't "convert your .vtf file into a .vmt" they're seperate files, damn it!
