let me tell a little story:

I buy a 256mb jump drive from newegg, just 'cause it was cheap and I didn't have one at the time. It's this one to be specific

so I'm using it and loving it, it's been perfect. very handy. Then, in my pc repair class I plug the jump drive in as always and it never came on. by that I mean, the light never even flickered and nothing happened (usually the light comes on and stays on while it's in the drive). So at first I think, hmmm, maybe it's just this computer. No go. I tried it in like 10 different computer each with the same result. I'd never heard of this happening, but anyways, I send it back to newegg and they gave me another one (newegg rocks btw).

New jump drive comes. Same story, it's great for about a week and a half. Then yesterday I plug it in my machine and nothing happens. dead. (note: I make this point because it died in two different machines)

so what gives? is sandisk just making junk? I want a reliable jump drive.

I have a 1Gb SanDisk Cruzer Mini flash pen (this one) and it's great, i've had it about 6 months and used it nearly every day, it's still running as fast as it was the day that I got it.

Maybe your flash pen is having a disagreement with one of the machines you try it in, that is gradually effing it up...

While using it, you always used the "Safley Remove Hardware" wizard before taking it out... dont you?

yes, I always safely remove it, that's the thing

I never use the 'safely remove hardware' wizard ... pfft, waste of time :D

just left click on the icon and click the only option there.

when I put it in the second time, I totally expected it to work, then it didn't. nothing

does anyone have any more ideas?

I'm rather hesitant to rma it again if it's just gonna go out again
