Unfortunately, 75% of the elementary school kids here think that the Korean War was fought in the middle ****ing ages. I blame the stupid education sytem.

According to polls, 30% of the 20s age group don't even know what year this was in.
You mean... not everyone there is like you?

Shocking :p

The soldiers, many as young as 13, threw themselves underneath tank tracks to try to hold the advance. Their efforts were unfortunately in vain.

True, or a romanticised story?

However, in the defence of democratic freedom,
Which was not obtained from a fascist governemnt until about the 1980s, until then your economy was on a par with North Korea's?

Is the year it was in important, or the lesson behind it?

Geez, what happened to NEVER FORGET NEVER FORGIVE?

Never heard of that except in middle eastern theocracies. What about Remember Remember the 5th of November?

Anyway, happy June 25th Korea Liberation thingy Day :D

funny how you didnt comment on the part of my post that talked about the massacre of civilians by your government ...way to ignore things that are contrary to your pov
Both sides did the same thing, excep the north started it.

Well, all I know is that my great aunt said she saw the same thing, when she joined the marines at 14.

Nooo, weve had democratic freedom since 1948. And also, the fascist goverment acheived exponential economic growth in its time from just $69 per capita GDP to ove ten thousand.

Is the year it was in important, or the lesson behind it?

Hmmm... yeah...

Never heard of that except in middle eastern theocracies. What about Remember Remember the 5th of November?

EVIL TERRORISTS MUST DIE?

Anyway, happy June 25th Korea Liberation thingy Day :D [/

"you shut up poopy-pants no one likes a squealer ...MOM! he's tattling on me again!!!"

Numbers, have you seen the movie Taegukgi? I hate to side with Stern, but it shows the things he speaks of. In a film environment, of course.

So do you guys have any momuments to the Americans who fought in the Korea war? The monument looks like Americans, but I'm pretty sure the South Koreans were given American uniforms and equipment, so......?

so that excuses your government for killing thousands of it's own citizens? you're no better than NK
Hmm, maybe you have a point.

Yeah, one of my favorite movies, actually. of course, the film is in a 2-brother perspective that cannot show all the atrocities commited by the north.

Yeah, those are Koreans, given american miltary equipment (the uniforms were really leftovers from WW2.

We also have several statues of the UN forces that helped us, the most famous one being the statue of General Douglas Macarthur.

To be honest, anyone who thought throwing himself under a tank would stop it is probably better off dead...
