And it's fantastic! No dead pixels, 17", 12ms for £152!

It's ridiculously better than my CRT, I love it!

Go and buy one :D

wich one did you pick, and on what site?
i am planing to pick new sony
SDM X-black
8ms Response Time
600:1 Contrast Ratio
420 cd/m2 Brightness

Digimate L-1718, and contrary to the picture on the site, it actually looks quite nice! It's got aa contrast ratio of 500:1 and its brightness is 300 cd/m2. For the price, it's excellent!

Looks nice! Good size for the price :D

Found one dead pixel, it's only really visible against white and if you are looking, it's invisible in games and playing movies, so it's all good!

hmmm, should it have dead pixels if it's new?

There is an acceptable limit of 3-5 dead pixels I think, it's not uncommon to have a few.

But my one is way out of my line of sight, I only notice it if I look directly at it, but you can see it clearly when the monitor is off as it's the only white spec on it.

ahhh I see, I'll bear (sp?) that in mind when buying my new one.

It was playing on my mind when I was going to buy one, but I just took the plunge - I needed one because my crt was far too bulky to take up to uni and back all the time.

Aria do a dead pixel check for £15, they'll send you one which hasn't got any dead pixels if you do the check, otherwise it's just down to luck

That Aria pixel check seems like a good idea, I wouldn't mind paying it because i'm quite fussy with things like that. I need to get myself a TFT too, just cos they are really cool and my mate has one and i'm really jealous!

Welcome to 2003.

Naugh just pulling your leg, got mine in November of '04, pretty dumb move too cause they fell over a hundred bucks within a month or so afterwards. :(

Keep an eye out guys, my sources tell me to expect an average 17" LCD by the end of the year for about 200 bucks.
