What I liked best in the CNN article is this sentence:

"Curiosity over the game was so intense that a group of hackers tunneled into Valve's offices a year ago and stole the source code for the game, later releasing it on the Internet."

Sounds like they physically did it. I got a mental image of hackers Underground digging tunnels great escape style.
