I dont understand why all these people are worrying? Half life 1 was delayed for almost a year, and in that year it went from a B shooter to a GOTY. Maybe they are making HL2 even easier to use and mod, and fixing some bugs. Just think of the way people reacted when HL was delayed, in the end of the day they still got there game, and hopefully we soon will too. So whats up with all this complaining?
 
Well Valve told us «no when it's done bullshit - September 30th it will be everywere»
And now « when it's done»
 
hopefully when the game comes out, Valve will tell us what happened, and why they delayed it so drasticlly. Right now, its probably immpossible to tell us.
 
I think after the reaction of some members of the Half-Life 2 community I'd just say "When it's done" instead. At least people can't call them liars then.
 
I mean, I hope I never have to meet certain Half-Life 2 fans

Me: "Yeah, I should be there by about 6pm"
*later*
Me (on phone): "Oh, I'm stuck in traffic, I'm going to be a bit late"
Half-Life 2 Fans: "OMG, YOU LIAR! You promised you would be here. You are a total liar. You probably knew you were going to be late but didn't tell me so I could get excited about your visit."

And so on.
 
The game industry moves much faster these days. While there wasn't much that could compete with valve back then, the arena is very different now.

People are complaining because they're whinging idiots and somehow feel valve owes them something.

I don't think Valve will ever make a press release to say this is what went wrong, this is why etc. but I'm sure eventually they'll talk about it more freely if we ask them.

Quite a while ago I made a poll on whether people would prefer a 'set-in-stone' release date that may not be met, or a vague 'when it's done'. I was surprised that most of the voters said 'when it's done' was preferable, but when I think about it, I think i'd prefer it too.

I think you're right (lot of thinking in this thread). I doubt there will ever be a press release on the reason for the delay, but after the game is out things will loosen up, we'll probably get some info from interviews or e-mails.

As for the Fuafu thing, i'm steering well clear.

My best guess is that his name is pronounced "faith"... well no that would be faeth... go screw. I don't know.
