The information is stored in your account. So if you format your drive it will still keep track of your games, but you have to re-download them unless you back them up.

In case you ever have your account stolen, you have all the information needed to have it reset, for one thing only you know your Billing information. This is why i say its good for ati coupon holders to upgrade your account since it gives you more protection.
