Last night, when Half-Life 2 went gold, I said to myself "what can I possibly do before November 16" (as I have no other goal in life than playing Half-Life 2).

So I decided to replay Half-Life 1.

I started last night, played a couple of hours, then an hour in the morning, and finally a couple more tonight.

The game is finished.

Total playing time : 5 hours!!!

The first time I played HL1 in 1999, it took me like 6 days to finish it, and I was playing all the time. Jesus! I must absoultely stop playing video games.

Anyway, if Half-Life 2 lasts 17 hours, then it must be an extremely long game!!! :cheese:

Woohoo!

yay, you beat half life 1... now.. it's only been a day since it wen't gold... hmmmm..... what to do, what to do

Hit the showers!
"... rinse, repeat... rinse, repeat..."

My goal, beleive it or not is to beat HL1 for the first time before HL2 comes out, I have played up until you get outside, but never got passed it, due to certain circumstances that I really dont remember. But I am going to acutally start tonight, cause I get off work early today!

i started replaying for the who-knows-how-many time a few months ago and was able to get to zen pretty quick. so i decided to stop there and finish HL1 the night before i start HL2 (hopefully at midnight).

Come on man, it's soooo easy and soooo short!

wow that's a pretty good idea :D

We should have a hl2.net half-life coop event!

Will be fun to replay the game but with fellow hl2.net forum members.

I suggested this to Munro because we could maybe do it on a hl2.net server but he hasnt responded

hmm i have never finished ither...
shame on you!.. I know..

but after playing half the game it allways gets f*ck up..
and it dosent work so i guess i have to finish it now..
just after i repair my computer =P

you know its possible to complete hl1 in around 56mins - 1hour?????

sounds impossible but its very very very true. there was a video of someone doing it with the time of the video underneath. you watch the whole thing...

its pretty amazing, and you notice paths you would never of thought of lol

I'm waiting for HL Source to play it again.

BTW ive seen that video as well, some other guy recently did it in 45 mins!!

Those videos are doctored. They way they do it is they play the game in slow motion using emulator programs and record it as they are playing. You can even stop play if you die and start over from the point where you died seamlessly so that it looks like you never died at all. Then when they beat the game they play back the video in real time so it looks like they actually played at that speed.

Point is. Don't believe everything you see on the internet.

Yeah - I saw that movie on a PC Gamer UK DVD - it is pretty amazing

Ahh yes... I also played Doom2 again (must have been for the 77th time) just before Doom3...

Yeah, I'm waiting for HL1: S as well to play through again. Hopefully it comes a couple days before HL2... so then I'll have it beaten by the time Nov 16th. rolls around. Wishful thinking.

thats incredible, i mean i started a new game last night and i got to that boss witht he sack hanging from his, ummm nm, in xen. I have work in a few so i thought that was a good time to take a break, im saving every checkpoint so i can go back and replay my favorite ones just like i did years ago before CS :)
i couldnt get hl2 and not play it until i beat hl source, so i said ill just get my refresher on the normal hl. cuz man taht day comes, im never closing hl2

What Fish said. The guy who did this said that was done in 21 segments. But he did finish it in 45 minutes of gameplay. What he did was still nothing short of amazing.

It was a part of the Speed Demos Achive project at PlanetQuake. There are certain rules to Speed Demos, and splicing video is perfectly acceptable (it just means theres a certain time deduction).

You can find the demo and that guys comments here

I played through HL1 this year myself and it was thourougly enjoyable. Playing through Opposing Force sounds like a good idea.

I just finished HL a couple of nights ago, then OPF the next night, then BS the next night, I was replaying all 3 games at the same time, I would play one for about 45 min then I would play the next one then the next one for another half hour, took me about a week to beat all 3.. :J
