Just wanted to put the previous thread to rest. First I do appreciate the fellow gamers that stood up for me. I am having a bad problem and just want help but most of the replies were entered just to make the situation worse. The following has been used negatively towards me, (bad grammer, moron, retarded, developer-instead of programmer, use of caps), in describing my post instead of understanding the problem. I realize my issue is happening to only some people while many have played the game fine. But for the people out there who has just attacked me(yea, and that is how you meant it-have the balls to stand up for what you have said)you have missed the point entirely. With my problem and many other problems as listed on the board, it is clear this game was rushed out the door so it would not miss being sold in the most important market there is- the holidays. As I have stated before I know all games have bugs when released, that is why patches follow but the point I am making is at least the other games work out of the box. This issue is a game stopper and should have been addressed before the release. The company and game were being squeezed in an uncomfortable position(I understand) with the constants delays and now into the holidays, the company had to release it to lessen the negative backlash of the theft code. But, in closing my only hope is to play and enjoy it like many others have. If this is wrong I apologize to the several people that have bashed me. My thought to them, If my game worked liked there must since they are upset I am complaining. Why are you on the forums, I would be playing the game-just a thought. Also still want to say steam was the worse idea ever. So between steam and this error interfering with the game, it has not been fun. I stand by what I have said in previous posts.

Hey, sorry if I came accross as an ass, I certainly didn't mean it like that...well maybe a little :p

Your problem is a hard one to fix, I mean things like corrupt textures or what ever can be fixed relatively easily. Memory errors and address 0xxxxxx or what ever aren't so easy. I'm sure valve are working on a patch for it as it is a known issue with some pc setups so you will probably just have to wait for a patch. It sucks I know.

As far as valve rushing the game, I think you may have missed the whole being delayed for 50000 million cabillion years :D With a game as sophisticated as this, there will be more bugs than in normal games. For the simple reason, there is more to go wrong. They ironed out most of the bugs in the beta testing, but they didn't test every system, its not possible. Now that numerous people have told them about it, they will probably issue a patch.

Sorry to hear you can't play until then though. And yes....I too think steam is a steaming pile of sh*t (are we allowed to swear on these forums?) it's just a pain in the ass for us and it didn't even stop the pirates. Well done Steam :@

 No problem. And I want help too.... For us unable to play, this patch/fix is taking forever... I keep seeing(but not reading) posts about how people finished the game, or it's their second time.... I couldn't even leave the train station, hehehehehe it's very frustrating.

mouldy punk - " it [steam] didn't even stop the pirates." .. I heard that pirated versions now can play online (cs:s and hl2:dm) .. is that true?? if so , I hate valve sooooooooooooo much!!

I sympathise. I'm in exactly the same boat.

I'm Gutted! :( I just want to play this game.

Just so you know, I wasn't BASHING you. I understand that you should be mad, and agree that you should have e-mailed Valve.

I just didn't approve of the yelling, and yes, ALL-CAPS IS YELLING IN ELECTRONIC MEDIA!!! (just proving my point). It's nothing against you personally; I'd say the same to anyone who wrote an e-mail like that. If a professor grades my exam wrong (and they have in the past), do I go and yell at him? Definitely not, I tell them the problem, and wait for them to fix it (and believe it or not, getting the right grade is even more important than getting a game working).

Basically, if you want Valve to work with you, you have to work with Valve. Its a mutual respect thing. If all gamers were smobs, and hated the developer, developers wouldn't produce games for them. Valve is already working as fast as possible to get these problems fixed.

Good luck on getting your game to work.
