I think the arrogance of so many people in saying that computer crimes are of a non-serious nature or that only the most prolific hackers get into big trouble is starting to edge away at me so I thought I'd throw an old article out that I ran into a while ago in the LA Times. It's about a guy who thought he'd teach the government a lesson by breaking into their higher level military sites. He's looking at 30 years. Enjoy.

Well when the fbi is involved I think that message alone should make these losers think twice and ask themselves, is it worth it? Imo they need to get a life and find better things to do in their spare time.

More importantly though is that while "non-malicious" hackers use the classic defense the people in the case with Valve WERE malicious hackers which puts even greater weight on their penalties. THEN, start to include financial damages and loss (subtract Valve's duty to mitigate loss) and you're talking some massive penalties for this act. Let's hope their cell-mates aren't HL fans.

Oh, the queens are playing at the showbox i think. My parents got the tickets because a guy that works for my dad has a wife that works at a radio station. Only 160 people get to see Queens. That's almost nothing. It's apart of budweiser's (American beer) One Night Stand.
