There is no place to learn here where i live. Im not planning to use it in self-defense or anything like that. Just want to learn something pretty unique here. And i want a good katana but still not too expensive. Something about 130-250£ can you get a good for that and if, where ?

In a small town in sweden. Only thing i can train here are Tai Chi, Ashihara Karate, Judo and Jujutsu. Ive tryed both Ashihara and Jujutsu, but it wasnt very fun. My friend will maybe travel to China soon and he said that real katanas are very cheap there. Is that right ?

I did abit of Jujutsu, was allright for awhile, but doing both was hell so I didnt keep going.

Hectic is right, even if you find a place to do classes, you should use a boken first. At least for afew lessons so you get used to the feel of it. I would be very interested in your reasons for doing it, if it is to impress the ladys, I guess thats fine.. I er.. guess.

On a more serious note, if theres not the proper courses around your town to practice this art, then you are putting yourself at extreme risk by getting a sword and teaching yourself it, you are almost certain to hurt yourself. Ritz said shes got cuts from a specialist teaching her. I think your mad personally, but whatever floats your boat i guess...

Wanting to learn something by myself is not to be mad, its to have zero knowledge in this art. But it would be interesting to learn through reading a book about it, of course you may most likely get hurt. But if you do not try you never know.

When you put the sword away after cutting with it (I dont fight, Aidio is solo) you basicly slide the blade very, very close to the thin skin between your thumb and finger, Ive allmost cut it open alot of times.

Even if you did learn from a video, chances are you wouldnt even be doing it correctly, the worst thing in the world is learning it wrong, because if you do end up finding a class, its going to be alot harder to unlearn it, and then learn it again.. the correct way.

Its truely not to impress anyone at all. I just love swords, but only katanas and lightsabers, there are no real lightsabers yet so ill be fine with katanas. Why do i want to learn using a katana ? i cant find a proper reason, except that it seems very difficult, interesting to be able to handle a real sword.
Remember that a sword cant think, and it cant hurt me, only you can hurt yourself. Its the samething with firearms.

Its pretty fun, I dont know much of it myself, but what I do know is alot of fun and ends up looking pretty good.

No idea where you would go for classes though.. (My sister taught me some, she does battle reenactment)
