KICKASS Nintendo News (Miyomoto speaks)

Wow, Miyamoto is SO ignorant. Online gaming will become big in 3-4 years? It was big 6 years ago, it is MASSIVE now.
On PC's yes, on consoles, not so much

Nintendo has always valued quality and originality over quantity and sales. Sometimes they seem stubborn and old fashioned, but every now and then they come out with something crazy like Zelda: the Ocarina of Time or Mario 64. Was there any game with different camera angles before Mario 64? Obviously, the N64 is old news and they haven't been extremely active in the next gen industry lately, but for this Nintendo fan, the sweet moments far outweigh the bad ones. I would rather have a new Zelda game every 5 years than a new fighting game or sports game every 2 months.

They're saying the people that made a game controlled by bongo drums are the ones that aren't creative? The people that made a game system with two screens and touch control are just pumping out rehashes of old ideas? The man with possibly the best track record in the history of video games is the ignorant one? Whatever those guys are on... I want some.

Good job taking things out of context, he is ignorant of online gaming. Nintendo dropped the ball on online gaming and now he is trying to own up to it but he won't admit he was wrong.

What rubbish.

You've managed to take what they've said out of context ;)

(and they are right - online gaming is still tiny)

They havent dropped the ball - but made the concious decision to wait (something i'm glad about) When online gaming is maintstream they will jump all over it.

Miyamoto has always stated that the type of gaming he enjoys is playing with 1-3 friends in the same room. This is what they focus on - and thank god someone is :)

Maybe I am just a friendless ogre, but I enjoy playing online WAY more than I do with just a couple other people. I always own all my friend in any game anyways, and playing with a split screen always sucks.

Sure - split screen does suck, but is still preferable to playing on your own (imo)

Try playing some Pes 4, or Mario Tennis/Golf/Party, or Monkey Ball, or Zelda 4-Swords - no split screen, just multiplayer goodness :)

I'm hoping that Nintedno stick to their '4 ppl in a room' plan when taking their consoles online. The thought of playing online with 4 friends in the same room, against other groups of friends all over the world is fantastic \o/

For the times i'm on my own there's always Xbox live or the pc.

That is what I like about Halo 2, the party feature.

i wonder how the people who were developing a 'online mod' for the ds feel now ;)

No - it still isn't big.
Compare how many ppl play online games to how many just play consoles in the living room. Online gaming is TINY in comparsion (it's easy to forget that when living in the insular world of pc gaming)

Yeh, because thats one of the most stupid parralels ever drawn. PC Gaming owns Console gaming and we PCers love pointing that out, time after time after time. What's wrong with it? You like licking Hirohito or Miyamoto or Hiroshima or whatever his name is arse, and we like our PC Games which lead the way forward.

Oh shutup :/ No single games designer has done more for the industry - it doesn't take a Nintendo fan to realise that. You obviously havne't a clue what you're talking about.

Oh come on! Remove your head from his arse for a moment and take a look. He cannot make anything innovative, while PC Games are reinventing physics and leading the way forward with graphical ingenuity Gaycube and their band of jokers are still stuck in the dark ages, where they think gamers will enjoy doing to old 'jump on head' and kill enemy, yes there are good Console games, I enjoyed FF7 immensely. But I can't really see the appeal of them apart from maybe a 15 minute multiplayer bash around on halo with your friends from time to time.

Oh and networking computers into a LAN owns split screen any day. Op Flashpoint of LAN owns anything the Gaysole can come up with.

Now get back to Tokyo.

What crap - to limit yourself to just one or the other means you're missing out on some of the best games ever made

You're making many wrong assumptions here. Firstly, i've never been to Tokyo (but would love to go :)) Secondly, I'm an avid pc gamer - and have been since Wolfenstein first came out. I've been to plenty of LAN parties and have been playing in clans for years and years.

I disagree that pc games are leading the way in terms of innovation (where are these games? you could count the recent pc titles which show any originality on one hand) They're certainly not in terms of creativity and variety. But they do excel in a few areas :)

(consoles are still the only choice for social gaming)

You fail to see the difference between fact and personal opinion - 'I can't really see the appeal of them' Tbh I doubt you play enough console games to really know what you're talking about. There are so many excellent console titles out there that involve, engage, and entertain on as many levels as the best (and comparably few) pc games around.

This has been the best year for pc gaming in a long, long time. For a few years now it's been stale :/

I'm an avid gamer on both sides of the fence (either PC vs console or single vs multi), and I think Con's post almost made me black out from the ignorance.
PC gaming occasionally makes a large step foward for the industry as a whole, and has certainly led the charge with online gaming and immersion. It has also fallen far by the wayside in terms of user-friendliness, diverse gameplay, and all-around innovation.
To write off all three consoles is to wall youself into your own little world which is just going to keep getting smaller and smaller.
Anyone without any basic understanding of what is fun and an unwillingness to try new stuff isn't a gamer. He's not even a decent human being.
