Unless the hood is open and the dump truck is already on fire, it would do nothing. Gasoline does not ignite through heat. It ignites through spark or other plasmolic source.
Gasoline evaporates very quickly under heat.

Thats why I said gas(LPG) canister. It would be set on fire by the charge for the recoiless firing action.

That is borderline gibberish, but what I am gathering is you'd slather petrol over something, then fire one of those portable LPG canisters and intercept the spilled fuel.

Help me out here. It is my understanding LPG canisters explode when lit. How do you intend to fire one without severely injuring yourself?

Blow LPG2. LPG1 + Gasoline will be set on fire and launch simulatneously.

EDIT: Of course, the launcher would have to be strong, but as force of the explosion will move to the point where there is least resistance, it would work.
