Kill Selection Box Tool in Hammer

Do me a favor and open up Hammer. On one of the 2d screens click and drag your mouse - a selection box appears. What in the name of all that is good and holy is that ever used for? In all the years I've been using Hammer on and off I have never once needed it or even found a use for it after searching for one. Sometimes it needs to make itself apparant when i'm trying to drag an object or edit some vertices! And then I can't do that and it won't go away and I have to close my map, open it up again and find the object I was just working on! Just get rid of it - take it out - I don't want it! If not taken out completely, which would be ideal, at least fix it, or put in a shortcut that deselects everything or something!

You have to reopen hammer? hahaha thats good. It's a selection tool either do what niugiovanni said or just hit enter to select the objects within the rectangle and move on.

i love you, kyo - you've given reason to the tool. i've been editing for personal use for years and never discovered that.

still - I don't like it very much at all and the only use is what happens when you press enter and it still screws me up when when I'm trying to simply drag an object, even if the object is allready selected. I've done without it for years and all it's done is annoy me. I might sue for emotional damages ;P

seriously though, i hate it, it's nearly useless, it's buggy, and it gets in the way. Use groups for your mass selection needs.
