Hi, i'm from Kingdom Lost, a medieval/fantasy HL2 mod in development. We're looking for people to help out with the mod. Our URL is www.kingdomlost.net where you can find all the information you need on us. Our website and forums just went live.

Here is the skinny on what we're all about: we're trying to fuse a fast game with a role playing game, and an unit controlling strategy game. The result is elaborate and promising. The basis for the core of the game is two teams facing off against eachother. Human players get to pick classes, knight level characters, (axemaster, a knight, a wizard for example) and go out and buy soldiers (swordsmen, axeman, crossbowman for example) and wreak havoc on the playing field. Each team is based from a castle, and human players may choose to command their computer controlled soldiers to bolster the defences of the castle. You can also buy items, like horses and siege weaponry to defend you castle with. Human players can level up and do special attacks and spells. There are other mystical attributes like suprises when doing a "monster kill" or something of that sort. And be careful, if you decide to start owning everyone in the server because you're real damn good, the other team is going to hire an assassin to go after you. ;)

"But dassbaba is it 1st person or 3rd person?" Most likely both, it's easier to shoot a bow+arrow sometimes in 1st person, so when the SDK comes out our team and the coder(s) will experiment with the views." (we have two coders right now, both dedicated and

We're also going to have dynamic options for winning the game, like "carnage" where there are extra amounts of computer controlled soldiers in the game, and each team essentially tries to kill the most. Another mode that someone running the sever could turn on is "steal the crown" or "steal the bla bla" where there will be something of value inside the castle and either players. Very open ended victory, so people can play what they think is fun.

Another twist in the gameplay is the option of surrendering. If you're at low health and dont want to take a death, you are given the option of surrendering, and if people surrender to you it goes on your record like a kill or victory or capture does in Battlefield 1942! After surrendering you are escorted by the other team to the castles prison, in the castles courtyard. After surrendering however you lose items and experience, but no deaths! Computer controlled players that you bought surrender a lot, so you'll find that you're going to have to rescue teammates from the prison!

Also, we are going to make scenarios of fun mini-games, like "Hide from the Wizard", where 1 flying wizard essentially has 15 seconds to kill as many peasants as possible. Players switch off being the wizard every 15 seconds or so. Another game is "Purge" where characters with bows are stuck in a field and they have to kill as many computer controlled opponents as they can running down the field. The last game i'll mention in "steal the crown!" where all players play the "thief" class and try to steal something in an area without getting caught. All examples of course, but one of the goals is to make fun scenarios like that.

notable features
*rpg core
*items
*computer controlled soldiers
*formations for the soldiers
*spells
*surrendering

Our goal is to make an addictive mod, that RTS/RPG fans as well as CS addicts can enjoy. We are taking apart other mods and games, and figuring out what is cool or what we like to do in those games, and for that we need your help.

that's exactly what we're doing, we have a list of priorities and what is getting done compiling-wise

classes + attacking first, beta testing galore, more and more stuff added on as time comes by, but that's a long way away

bump

check site for an update, still looking for 3D staff
