When I walked by my computer retailer today I couldn't believe it. There it was, but it couldn't be, it shouldn't be out till tomorrow. 2 Minutes later I held a copy in my hands. 40 min later I had installed HL2 on my computer and.... nothing!!!! You can't play it because you can't register with Valve yet!!! The side is still down!!! Does anyone know by what time one will be able to register ones copy of HL2.

Well, i can certainly name the most disappointing moment in my player history now. So forget all the excitement about HL2 shipping early, you won't be able to play it.

welcome to the "Real World".

Sucks but ya gotta wait like everyone else I'm afraid my friend :(

ah well less than 24 hrs to go :D

Oh my god dude, I can't believe you didn't know this already... have you been to these forums before?! Everyone has been talking about this at some point...

Just... a few... hours.... left... must... hold.. ... on.

because of Vivendi (bastards), no-one is allowed to register and play HL2 before the 16th of november, PRECISE... and that's the situation EVERYONE is in at the moment, so wuit nagging and have a pizza and watch a movie or something... just don't bother trying to do anything about it, because you'll be able to play it tomorrow!

Well what the hell did you expect? Retailers aren't even supposed to sell it yet. The release date isn't here yet.

Vivendi and Valve decided on a release date, they both intend to keep to the release date.

It's not Vivendi or Valve's fault - it's the store's fault for selling it before they were allowed too.

Oh, please. Vivendi set the release date and some vendors decided not to listen - as simple as that.

Well biggleska, vivendi could be nice and allow valve to activate it. I'm sure if they wern't at court with eachother vivendi would have allowed valve to activate it...
god damnit x_X

ULNR, does it say anywhere on the box that an internet connection is needed to be able to play the game?

/curious

i just hoped since the street date was broken they allow stores to at least start selling it... this way we can start playing right away when its unlocked just like the steam users

This has been confirmed in about 10+ threads.

We could have had HL2 earlier if all copies were sold from Steam. But VU needed time to get the copies made and shiped to the retailers for a competitve market for both VU and the retailers. Other wise Nearly a 100% of the copys would be sold from Steam and thats not fair to the retailers who had nothing to do will the law suits.
