Korean shooter HAVE Online that looks a little too much like TF2

Someone should make another toy army men game. The one for n64, despite being terrible in nearly every conceivable way, was awesome.

I didn't read a single other post in this thread and I don't need to. This man speaks truth.

Compared to Battlefield Heroes, the difference between this and TF2 is night and day, yet the response here and elsewhere has been disproportionate at best.

Also, did everyone actually watch the videos? Someone was very skillful in isolating those screenshots. The video only has vague senses of 'Someone played Team Fortress 2', especially when compared to the sense that it proves the far eastern games market can't stomach First Person Shooting when there aren't enough wiggling bottoms blocking half the screen.

It is more like BF: Heroes in gameplay, but have you looked at the particle effects in the video? The blood is literally TF2 blood particles colored blue, and the rocket trails and explosions are the exact ones used in TF2, and even make some of the same sound effects. Also, the grenades are exactly like the ones the Demoman uses, and several shots (Sniper montage, the "Scout" part) are lifted straight from the 'Meet the...' videos.

I second the motion of summoning ambassador numbers to explain his country's actions.

SK needs to stop making such lazy ass blatant rip-offs. At least try and have some pretence of originality.

.........

I have no comment on this issue. *mutters something about purging it with FIRE*

Especially because this seems to be Vegeta's bedroom. I don't remember having an army of anime girl figures when I was growing up.

Exactly what I was thinking. This seems like a game made for anime retards. Not anime fans, but anime retards. There's a difference.

And they didn't rip somebody else off.

The game is almost completely ripped from TF2 and the concept and "plot" (I use the term lightly, SK game makers haven't been known for good plots) is basically toy story set in Vegeta's bedroom.

Stop trying to defend the indefensible you bloody wap. Or in this case Worean. :p

Both make you nod and smile uncomfortable when they bring it up in conversation, but one deserves to be purged like the night-before pub-crawl curry.

Nothing to do with that - I just thought it looked fun. Like a 3rd person shooter rats map with stuff borrowed from TF2.

(i'm not an anime fan ;))

Aw man now I remembered that rats map and I can't play Counter-strike on my mac :(.

Rats, that was some funny shit back in the day.

no surpise korea and china are well known for copying stuff.

Yeah because adapting a style of art to use in a game is the same thing as shamelessly copying from one game to another.

TF2 ripped off J.C. Leyendecker. So it's only fair.

TF2 didn't use half of the sounds and ideas.

Animu girls with a giant machine gun, rocket launcher wielding soldier with the hat and all. Sniper with a sniper rifle with the same gun sounds as TF2..

oh wait, you were being sarcastic, weren't you?

Team Fortress did invent all of that.

Do you not know of blind fanboyism?

What shameless copying? Where?

As had been pointed out in the thread a lot of the particle effects seem to be close copies of those in TF2, in addition to the sounds, and a lot of the shots in the trailer appear to be based on various Meet The Team videos too.

Team Fortress 2 invented that too, or so I hear.

I agree with the sound (particularly the music), but there's only so much you can do with 'cartoon' particle effects, and in five and half minutes of video there are hardly enough Team Fortress 2-styled shots to note. Then you consider that firstly, Valve aren't some ungodly creative force and doubtless had their own inspirations for said shots and secondly, that if one promotional video looks the same as another, it doesn't actually matter since neither video actually represents gameplay (except actually, the HAVE Online one does, and it looks like it plays nothing like Team Fortress 2. Also, it looks pretty crap).

If people started calling movie trailers derivative for using the same VO and shots, you'd think they were Half-Life mythology level stupid.

It's not any one or two things that make it a blatent ripoff, it's the sheer number of things, often small, all together at once.

Haha, I can't believe there's actually people white-knighting this bullshit.

Why do people care? You'll never play the thing and will likely never hear of it again.

GO DIE IN FIRE DISGUSTING PIG.

How dare you compare us to those.... barbarians, the inhuman savages that make fake milk/viagra/chicken eggs (with some chemicals) and feed it to babies?

I find it frustrating that you can't use napalm over the internet. :/

IT IS AN ABOMINATION THAT POISONS THE MINDS OF THE YOUNG AND MUST BE PURGED THROUGH PURIFYING THERMONUCLEAR FIRE

you could try to come to my house and climb through the window "Korean Specops" but they would probably trip over each other and break each other bones.

:p

Lol, I wasn't 100% sure that this was a blatant copy of TF2 until the end when they showed the demoman action figure.

Good stuff always gets copied, there's no surprise about it. Movies, games, books, everything. Sometimes, the copies are better than the original and they become the basis for new things. Sometimes they are quickly forgotten.
TF2 is not so original, at first.

I don't understand, are people defending this simply to be contrary?

It's the "hipster" thing to do.

btw I hate TF2.

I ain't no fanboy.

What shameless copying? Where?

Animations, weapon sounds, particle effects, graphic style (in particular lighting), gameplay elements... if you can't see it, you should go and swap your brain for a working model.

Might help you in life.

Seriously this, I'm baffled. I thought this thread would die a death once everyone had sat around and had a bit of a laugh at what a shameless and obvious ripoff this appears to be. But no, I guess black is actually white, and crap is really quite fragrant when you sniff it from a certain angle.

You must be incredibly naive, and frankly stupid, to believe all of this is simply coincidence.

For a start, there are a tremendous amount of games out there that are stylised in a similar cartoony manner and none of them have blatantly ripped particles from one game into the other. All of those games with similar styles only share a slight resemblance. Like how all FPS games have brown in them since the days of Quake. This looks like they've copied not only the style but also the colour design, the sound and music, almost the entire class structure, therefore the gameplay and even the trailer shots appear to have been directly lifted from TF2 as countless others and videos have already proven.

If this isn't some amazing earth-shattering coincidence that a game released two years after TF2 is almost identical to TF2, then its a ripoff.

This is not a coincidence.

It's like they share a mind with the people at valve!

Man, that's a coincidence if I ever saw one.

Hmm similar weapons and abilities for sure. The baseball bat and medic particle effects were the obvious signs I guess.

I understand I might be bringing the wrath of everyone down on me here but you never know, they might have something that's better than TF2 here? I doubt it, but we don't know til we've played it!

Just because something copies the ideas of something else (*cough* L4D2/KillingFloor *cough*) doesn't mean it's going to be worse. If this was the case we wouldn't have HalfLife surely?

(btw, without hijacking this, my TF2 clan is recruiting! http://www.4twin.co.uk)

I still love TF2 and it's unlikely anything will drag me away from it though! TF2 Foreva!

I'm not being dragged into this trolling bullshit. You have my views on this, and if they don't involve pitch-forked plagiarism witch-huntery, you can live with it without resorting to the petty insults.

meh who cares ...does anyone think this inferior copy will pse a threat to TF2? and even if it did, who cares? OMG SOMEONE MIGHT SELL SOMETHING OTHER THAN VALVE!!!
