We also have a kind of poisonous marsupial that's infamous for imitating fence posts out in the middle of the bush, which lash out and deeply cut you if you follow along lines of fences (Which is usually how you circumvent properties). You only have a few minutes depending on where you've been lashed to drive to hospital before your sight starts to blur from the venom.

They don't assume the form of a whole fence post, but rather attach themselves to it with their wood-textured wings facing outward.
