Its really ridiculous that nothing has been posted new's wise about what exactly is going wrong with STEAM right now. Ya we all know what it probably is but there have been 3 official v1.0 versions out already on STEAMS site and a leaked 1.0 beta.

I mention Eric because he is the man behind STEAM, it is his project, he is the one who has developed and the rest of the team had nothing to do with it other than suggestions.

I feel valve/steam should start posting official news instead of answering to emails

Three official v1.0? Did I miss something? Is there something essentially different from the first one I downloaded and the latest one?!

whats the third?
Tehre is the normal one
and the big one
but they are essentially the same arent they?

I completely agree with you Shockwave.
I want some kind of announcement from him, it would be about time...
I hope the Steam forums will be up soon, so he can post something there :|

why don't you stfu and try to make it work yourself, PCs aren't consoles, if you want to pop in a cd and play 2 seconds later get a xbox if you can't figure stuff out on your own then you shouldn't even download this software.

It's been just over a day since Steams launch and obviously this didn't go as smoothly as could've hoped. Do you know think Erik Johnson may be busy? Or at the very least, the entire Steam team is probably pretty tired after the Launch.

And what do you want him to say. "Yeah, Steam doesn't work perfectly yet."

Seriously, people seem to complain about Valve's lack of communication whenever they don't talk constantly. Like Gabe's "Lack of Communication" about the delay.

No no no.. it can't mean he's busy, he's probably been adbucted by aliens! Yeah.

First of all your a ****ing moron. I know more about PC's and software than you know about your hand. There is nothing wrong with steam itself, the problem is with the bandwith and how it is being distributed. Whatever you do in steam requires bandwith, even clicking on the menu options, this is why everything is slow as hell. I have been using steam since what november 2002 i think i know alittle about it.

Feath..there is no steam team, its eric johnson by himself, he has developed this software %100 on his own, this has been stated many times.

Oh ya i havent touched a console in about 6yrs..gg

Erm, you don't use bandwidth by clicking menu options. Loading games requires bandwidth because you are communicating with the server.

I'm not sure whether you are being serious about Erik Johnson, he's the project lead on Steam. I know that Taylor Sherman has "Steam Developer" under his name at the message board and answers questions sometimes. And John Cook is working on it.

At the current time you do use bandwith doing anything related to steam no matter even if it shouldnt. It wasnt like this the betas.

Erik is the sole developer, the others may have titles but it his software soley, he has stated this in the forums, When they are back up see if you can search around for it.

Anyway gl with steam

Erik Johnson is the project lead. At least John Cook and Taylor Sherman are working on Steam.

Having just one person working on Steam is ridiculus.

And besides, his description on the Valve website(http://www.valvesoftware.com/people.htm) says nothing about him being able to program.

Erik Johnson - Project Manager
Erik began his career as a shoe salesman and later moved up to selling used cars. Deciding that the car business wasn't for him either, he took a job with Sierra Online in the QA department. As one of Sierra's testers for Half-Life, Erik spent a lot of time over at the Valve offices and was eventually offered a job with Valve as shipping manager. Erik's responsibilities include localization, testing, managing the build process, creating demos, and shipping products.

Funny isn't it? first you say you don't know what's wrong, then in another post you go and explain why things aren't working. Who's the "****ing" moron now?

If you've been using steam since november 2002 that means you were a beta tester because they released steam for open-beta in january 2003. For a beta tester you sure are one of a kind, now stfu and go buy a playstation you freak.

Shockwave is cool guys! Make way for the nerd, that acts big on the internet and gets beat up @ school.

Btw, there was a Steam beta in November 2002, Steam Beta 1.0, playing HLDM, CS 1.5, TFC, DMC, and Ricochet, as well as Tracker (what became Friends) which showed off the new VGUI2 UI.

The open beta that started in January 2003 was Steam Beta 2.0.

I said i dont know whats wrong?..wow direct me plz..

You obviously have no clue about the steam beta if you think it started in janurary 2003

You have a reading impediment Shockwave, I said OPEN BETA started in january: that means the beta was available to anyone who could get his hands on it, before january 2003 it was a exclusive beta with a limited number of beta testers. Now if you really were a beta tester you would have known all this, cut the crap ok?

No, the Steam v1 beta was open for anybody to use for ages prior to January 2003, and I wasn't part of "an exclusive group" of beta testers.

I was playing it for ages, I know this. I asked www.enemydown.co.uk about using a SteamID when playing in their league because their web-based form was only accepting WONIDs.

I registered here, just now, for the sole purpose of saying that whoever Evo is, he's a complete ****in forum dick. Instead of releasing your pathetic hardass attempts on people here, why don't you get the hell off your comp and go do something useful with that energy. Your just like the typical gotfrag poster. An E-THUG! YEAH E-THUG! IS YER E-PENIS BIGGER NOW?

Wow you sound really angry, how can you get so worked up over this? why don't you take a deep breath and go for a stroll down the park ok? or you could just stfu : )

Man you are ****ing wacked...Do you make up things as you go?. Another reply by you stating what I supposedly said.

When did i state i didnt know about open and closed beta testing?. If your trying to make yourself look good or think your dicks gonna grow bigger by having used steam longer than me its not gonna work.
