Lack of intelligence in recent posts/threads.

There has been a sharp decline in intelligence in recent posts and threads as the title states, and it is really ruining the HL2.net experience. Misspellings, improper grammar, incorrect or no punctuation, and even just not thinking, or replying to posts that were dead 5 months ago have been major annoyances recently. I am not going to give out any names, but I just want to say the following:

1) Think before you post.

2) Read the last post date before you post.

3) If you cannot spell, run through it with a spell checker.

4) Make sure you do not miss punctuation (as it takes so long to figure out whatever you are trying to say when you don't use it.)

5) Do NOT spam by just simply saying something way off topic, or posting replies that are less than 5 words. (such as just posting with LOL.)

6) Avoid using "AIM chat" as much as possible. (ex. wut, U, or any other disgustingly abbreviated words.)

7) Search forums before you post on something. (For it may have been posted just yesterday, or a while ago.)

If everyone just follows what I typed out above, it will make HL2.net a much more fun and enjoyable experience.

Welcome to an internet forum.

Everything you've just described appears here on a day to day basis and has done since May 2003. Come to think of it, that's exactly how it is on 99% of other internet forums.

I think it's pretty normal since people are here to chill out, y'know

...and bingo was his name'o!

A spam post like that? :p

Might as well spam like everyone else......

Spamming isnt good and it isnt bad either, in order to fully understand the art of spam, you must try your best to merge your mind with the universal union, in search of true purity in the art and core of spamming. For, although resented by many, spamming is something that lets you unleash your frustration and stress, to reduce your intelligence to a lower level in order to see things....the more-stupid way around.

....did I just post that crap? :p

Ouch...

The mods are doing their best.

It's uh the internet, what do you expect? I hate to be an ass, but Sieg, you spelt wasn't wrong. Your version is: Wasent. Which is wrong.

I deserve a cookie. I contributed to making the forum a more intelligent place.

I agree with the thread starter, there is indeed a lack of intellegence in recent posts/threads.

The less I post here, the dumber the general posts become, its all part of my plans to take over the world

FEAR ME!

Your post is stupid. :p
offtopic: thats because the lack of me posting here, made you so stupid so you now think all the smarter post's are stupid to.

anyway, this forum always had its stupid post quota, and I don't think, there ever was a diffrence in it.

I think he was referring to the original posters post - sorta ironic. Or maybe not. :p

Now that i look, it is slightly blinding. Gets the point across though :p

Why do you think there are moderators? They do something about it if it happens, unfortunately we haven't yet found a way to completely stop people doing it and I can pretty much guarentee that we never will.

Firstly, people making spelling mistakes - so what??! Why should we care? Not everyone's first language here is English and for the rest of them they just feel more comfortable taking shortcuts when they type and others just don't care if it's spelt correctly or not.

The search function on the forums is quite poor, as it is for most forum software. Sometimes people just rather start a new thread. In that case just report the post and then a moderator will close the thread and point the poster in the right direction of the information.

Spam will always happen but it won't be tolerated. If you see someone spamming then report their post. Every single post that gets reported gets read and most of them get actioned. It's easy to do, just click the little
report.gif
icon above the post you want to report.

I'm sorry you're not enjoying Halflife2.net, but perhaps you would if you don't get so worked up about the little things.

True, spelling may not be something to poke at on the internet, so just chill. Some of us are still at school :)

I don't let the spelling get to me. What annoys me is seeing a thread from November bumped to the top of the list.

Sometimes ppl have points that are good but any other time it's just annoying when threads are "resructed" (spelling?)
LOL, i can't spell in a thread about spelling.
Also my other pet hate, is the Mod leaders who post in help-wanted; About their Mod and it's their first post, that they use the forums only for their Mod.
anyways

Resurrected.
To resurrect.
re-sur-rect

For a long time I couldn't spell campaign, but remembering that the word consists of campa + ign, it came much easier to remember.

Thanks for the spelling hints:
resurrect
i used to think in parts when spellings, now i just can't spell.
tech-no-logy
Atleast i got that right in year 4
the other one that's wierd was: Hospital casue i'd always played Theme Hospital through MS-DOS

You think this is bad? You have had a sheltered cyber-upbringing heh heh. The worse forums I've been on are believe it or not, the UK NAGTY website. Nagty being:
The National Association for Gifted and Talented Youth. Spamfest. Every other post is a "Hi, I've just signed up..." or "ooh Complete Random - Cheese, tee hee hee, ohhh sausages and marmite ooh tee hee hee". In addition there is THE DREADED 'txt lngwge' ARGHHH. At least the l33t spk as found on here has got a certain ... l33tness about it.
