Lag Spikes?

This has been annoying me for quite some time. Every minute or so my ping jumps up to like 500 or even higher. And I get the "There is a problem with your connection" of course, which simply means your ping is really high. My connection is great though. I can be pinging 30 on the server but it still happens.

This only happens in BF2. It happened in the demo as well.

Can anyone help, it so very very annoying I can't fly anything because of it, and I am a goner if it happens in combat.

I am begging on my knees for a solution.

Also, when I enter the server browser, this Norton Antivirus thing pops up saying that bf2.exe is trying to access the internet, and asks if I want to permit it or not. I can click ok to permit it, but it keeps coming up until I finally get into a server. Disabling autoprotect doesn't stop it from coming up. And I can't stop the process because it says "Access is Denied" :angry:
This might be what is causing the lag. Stupid Norton. It's acting like a virus itself.

You could you just turn off Norton with the exeption that a virus might get in, but i've been running without a virusblocker for a while and a virus hasent gotten into my computer so far (THANK GOD)

And Norton Internet Security is what your talking about. It tells you if something is accessing the interent. You can tell it to ALWAYS allow that, but I have that running so I dunno if that is your problem. I get the "Problem with your connection" thing sometimes...at least once a map. It is just random for me. But then again, people all around complained about it..so maybe it was just the server D:

How do I turn off Norton Internet Security?

the little earth on the bottom right..next to your clock
right click on it, and go to disable
It will then get a red "X" over it...then viola!

I don't have that. I don't think I have Norton Internet Security. Here is the window that comes up.

I also get the same thing except with Xfire as well! Pops up right after!

And I can't shut down the norton process. It's CCAPP right? Doesn't let me close it. Disabling autoprotect doesn't work either, as I said. But do you think this is what's causing the lag?

Edit: Apparantly it's Norton Internet Worm Security. I don't know how to disable it. And why the hell does it keep asking after I say permit countless times!! Should I try blocking it?

Alright I figured out how to turn off Internet Worm Security. I don't know why this has to be so gay. I hate Norton.

Disabling Norton Internet Worm Protection fixed it. And I think if fixed the lag spikes too!

Norton is still gay though.

I like system works
Then again AvG works really good..I just feel safer with Norton..personal preferance, but it is by far the best

Haha, you gotta point, at least Norton Internet Security asks you once, and you say "OMFG PERMIT FOREVER YOU POS OR I'M GONNA RIP OUT YOUR HDD!"
