Does anyone know if Marc Laidlaw has already decided where the plot is going to go? It seems he certainly has some aspects done and done, but what about the overall sweep? Does he know where it's going to end up?
J.K. Rowling claims she knows (and has pretty much always known) where she intends to go with the Harry Potter series, so much so that she claims to have written the final chapter. Whatever your view of those books, that's impressive
if true.
The Wachowski Brothers claim that The Matrix was always supposed to be a trilogy...
Personally, I think that The Half Life Trilogy has a fantastic ring to it.

You made a thread about this...why?

Well, I guess the plot isn't all that important, really. So I apologise for centering a thread around it. No, we should be concentrating on deciphering individual frames of the videos and bitching about minor imperfections in the characters. So I apologise once more.
Come on.

That wasn't intended to be malicious sarcasm, by the way.

How dare you include Half-Life and Harry Potter in the same post, I curse thee, To forever watch cheap british soap operas for eternity!

sure about that now:cool:

I am also very curious as to where the overall sweep of the story will end up. I hope they have it planned out so the story does not end up being convoluted and have glaring plot holes that make no sense. I think this topic is very important.

Damn that's one Hell of a curse. Feckin' Eastenders. Bloody Hollyoaks. Or even worse - Family Affairs <Dies>

Cheers for the agreeing with me, Torison. And no, it honestly wasn't meant to be that malicious. Well, not THAT malicious.

I'm very interested in Half-life's plot and where it is going, so much so I've begun to piece together a plot guide for www.gamefaqs.com.

I've played through Half-Life, Opposing Force, Decay, and Blue Shift and am in the process of piecing together where everyone was in relation to each other and at what time. I'll post it on the forum when the whole thing is done, probably in late August considering the great amount of conversations I have to write down and I wanna play through Half-Life Decay once more.

? Elaborate. Don't make useless posts, look at me for example, look what happened to me.

Sorry. Quoi is what in French and seeing all the talk about Dr. Kleiner using now-defunct words no-one has heard of in the past 70-odd years (let alone used them) such as "fie", I thought everyone had to do it...
Basically I was much confused over your reply to "What's Decay?"

Half-Life Decay is the PS2 exclusive co-op campaign where you play as Dr. Gina Cross (the girl from the Hazard Course) and Dr. Colette Green.

It doesn't add too much to the plot.

Basically, Dr. Cross and Dr. Green were part of Freeman's experiment, they were below Freeman and were the one's who delivered the sample. They interact with a disabled scientist in a wheelchair, Dr. Keller, and Dr. Rosenberg from Blue Shift. It shows how Dr. Rosenberg was the one who called the military in after the accident, and let's you revisit some areas, like the Hazard Course and the Level 3 Dormitories (you get to see Freeman's Room). You also learn they helped Freeman make it to Xen by activating the satelite before he launches it into space and by protecting the transmitter that sends him to Xen.

You never really see the G-Man during the game. I think. The wierdest part of the game is the ending. You get caught in a resonace flux and are teleported to random areas. In one area you hear Rosenberg calling to Calhoun to enter the portal (from Blue Shift). But the even wierder part is the next scene. It also starts off all black. But then a beam comes from off-screen and a teleporter sprite appears, with the outline of a man in it. It happens so quick I couldn't tell who it was, I think it might've been the G-Man, but it could've been Freeman (since you haven't seen him at all in the game yet), Calhoun, or Shephard since they all used teleporters as well.

So that was PS2-only then. Bastards. Sounds very interesting.

Yeah it was done by Gearbox. I always wondered why they never ported it. :p

Dammit Gearbox, DAMMIT. I don't care if it's not great, but when there's something like that I get all obsessive compulsive - like having to get all the B-sides from a certain band (see The Music and The Cooper Temple Clause)
<Notices people making odd, mildly concerned faces>

Yeah, I remember seeing an interview with Gabe about the time HL was released and he mentioned The Mist.

its weird you know, i think i read a preview of hl but i never really read something specific about it before its release...its came as a total surprise to me...never heard anything bout it in E3 articles

I saw little bits here and there. Didn't think too much of it.
