Lan Gaming

Hi Fellas. I think it was my 1st post on this forum where I introduced myself and hinted at some Lan gaming events that I was concidering hosting at weekends from a permenant location just south of London UK.

Allot of ground work has been done now based upon what I know, and the premisses has now been secured.

We will be able to host 40-50 players a day.

Each weekend will be dedicated to 1 game. Each day of the weekend will have a winner, and the results posted to a website. At the end of the year a day will be set aside for the winners to return and slug it out in a winners tournament, where prizes to the cash value of approx £2-3000 could be won.

What I would like to ask you guy's and gal's is what games you would play at a Lan. I am currently looking at running 4 max, which will run on a rotation:-

Week 1 = Game A
Week 2 = Game B
Week 3 = Game C
Week 4 = Game D
Week 5 = Game A etc

Red Alert 2 / C&C Generals
Battlefield Vietnam
UT2004 (+ mods?)
Call of Duty?

Maybe America's Army to replace one of the war games, since it's free (if that's an issue).

Once you get people coming it'd definatly be worth talking to them to see what their favourite (genre of) game is.

I have the feeling Battlefield 2 might become very big in the LAN-circuit. Just a hunch tho ;)

I had a public LAN a few days ago, we played:

- Far Cry
- CoD: UO
- HL1DM
- UT2004

You should definetly use those.

hl1dm, so freaking fun. i remember hours and hours of playing that with my brothers and sister in our house that we networked. btw, i have five brothers and a sister, so we had some good dm-ing.

and i second Shakermaker suggesting bf2. more that one day may be dedicated because it's gonna rock hard.

DM games:
-Quake3
-UT2004
-HLDM

I would suggest Doom3, but there seems to be little interest in it.

Team Games:
-CS Source
-BF2
-Maybe Q3\UT2004 CTF or UT2004 ONS\Assault. I don't think I'll be getting BF2 and don't play CS Source anymore, so I'd like to see a CTF lan.

UT 2004
HL2DM

Both will certainly feature, as they play well as DM or TDM. Factoring in how to balance the teams on team based games will be fun tho.
