So I bought this shitty Acer Aspire 5520 laptop. Now I'm suddenly getting the weirdest problem. My screen starts to flash and the computer makes that login-what-ever-sound "didy, dudi." REALLY ANOYING. Sometimes logging out solves it but most of the time I need to restart my laptop. Also my laptop has started freezing up. I get this brown psychedelic pattern and the whole comp locks up.

For starters, my drivers are up to date, well as up to date as they are for this shitty 7000m GPU, yes I tried the laptopvideo2go sites instructions to install the latest Nvidia drivers without the GPU being supported in the .inf file. Resulted in about 600%-1000% performance loss etc. The computer is in a well ventilated place, it's actually on top of a book so that theres more air below the laptop. And no the book isn't blocking the fan entrance.

Anyone got any suggestions what the hell is going on? GPU going dead? The fan of the laptop isn't just powerful enough to cool the comp? Throw the laptop out of the window?

Sounds ****ed up (Technical expression;))

If its under warantee, send it back. If its not, crack her open and have a dust clear out. Then reinstall windows. Drastic, but it sounds like the laptops got serious issues.

Well lucky me it's under waranty. I just wish I don't get ****ed on the waranty. I think they stopped making this model, and this one has 3gb of ram and has versions which have like 1gb ram. My guess is I get my laptop back with no ram :/

Warrentee should mean that you get that model or one as good or better. If they send you a lower spec model, kick up a fuss/sniper outside thier head office.

Just read the bible to it, the laptop will either run like hell, or enjoy the stupid book of tales and rhymes that dont make sense.

that, or you can buy a new one, or argue with the warrentee company. just dont pray, that pisses me off. then ill break your new one too.

Well today the flashing started happening everytime I started the comp. So I checked up the task manager, there was something I haven't seen before called Task Scheduler Engine, so I shut it down and the flashing stopped. Seems like it's a worm or something :O

SAVE ME MULDER

My day job involves testing Acer laptops to find what's wrong with them. The majority of the ones that are faulty with nVidia GPU's tend to have the fault related to the GPU in some way. You could try restoring the system and see if the problem persists. If it does there's it's clear the GPU is faulty and you sure RMA it and buy something other than an Acer. ;)

Hookay it wasn't a virus or malware. The comp won't boot anymore. Waranty here I come :/
