Hello Once again,

Im back and have a few questions on tweaking laptops to utmost performance.

Now my question is....can you? I mean its easy to take apart a huge desktop PC but is it bad to take apart a Laptop? Can you buy say, a new video card like a ATI 9600 and install it?

And OCing for PC's, how would you do that? The same as a desktop? I am not even sure if my Laptop has 2 fans or not (I have a Sony Vaio PCG-FRV25 dunno if the series is important). I am sorry for the stupid newbish questions but im 16 and its my dream to build, program, and help people with PC's. I know quite a bit but not nearly enough. Anything else anyone thinks I should know is welcome.

Thanks.

i dont think laptops are customizable at all, but i am probably wrong. u cant go and buy a normal Radeon 9600, ul probably need the ATI Mobility stuff, unless they are integrated. alot of laptops just share the video memry with the main memory.

Some alienware laptops are customisable, where you can exchange the graphics processor easily to keep it upto date (hardware wise). If its a standard laptop, then teh chances are that you will be unable to upgrade its GPU or CPU. I would say that you could possibly put in more ram, but thats about it i'm afraid. Hope this is of help.

I don't recommend taking apart a laptop unless you're a certified computer repair tech :P but yeah i'd love to upgrade my vid car in this sucker(Toshiba Satellite) only got an ATI 9000 in it but it's a laptop and I accept it for what it is. If you're a noob to laptops then I'd say it's a no no

Alright, thanks, you guys are great....first ones to respond to either of my posts. This has helped and I wont take it apart as I've only begun repairing and upgrading desktops  Anyways thanks for your help and I guess I shall...Continue my never ending quest to Save My Girlfriend!!!.....I mean become a computer programmer and technician.
