I've noticed a few sigs creeping above the 4 line max. Are we being more leniant(sp?) or should I remind the people who have done this.
Please note: in my sig the space has materialised itself and I can't get rid of it.

Remind them, they might not know.

However, Dog-- and Skaadi have had 5 line sig's for ages, (I reminded them here.) so it's probably not a priority for mods.

It is a priority but it's just a pain in the arse to keep track of with there being so many members.

What I'd recommend, is if you see anyone with a sig larger than four lines then report one of their posts stating that their signature is too large and it will be sorted out.

Sig heil.

EDIT: What does that actually mean anyway?

Mod: Take off every 'sig'!!
Mod: You know what you doing.
Mod: Move 'sig'.
Mod: For great justice.

So it is the equivalent size of four lines, or can I have like 4 quotes in my sig?
Also, can you have four lines of size 7 text?

Its a rough equivalent to 4 lines of regular text, but its up to the moderator.
Rule of thumb, keep it reasonable. Its just a sig, not an essay.

Hell no

In the first month or two I was a mod, I would send litteraly 30-40 PM's to people to shorten thier sigs.

God, the ending to that movie was horridly corny.

But I cheat like Sulkdodds. I know it's 4 lines, but nobodies spoken to me about it, and i've been using the space for "quote of the moment".

Should I change it?

EDIT: Damn, unlike Sulkdodds, when you highlight it, it highlights out 7 lines ;(

I use my space wisely imho. My PC specs is for ease of use, since I mostly hang around the Hardware and Software boards, my Xfire is for just that, easy contact, but the quote could always be taken out. I don't want to do it unless I have to though.

Theres an Xfire textbox that was added to the profile options, you know. You can have it in your profile.

I remember for a few months, I would check over and over to see if you guys added one, then I just gave up on it.

Thanks!

Now, that I'm so enlightened, can I be a sig mod? Meting out punishments to anyone with more than 4.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 lines of text!

any sigs longer than sinkomans, i would probably PM the user.

Hey. Can I ask just 1 thing? What's with the 4-line limit anyway?
There's boards that have a charactor limit, but never a line limit.

I'm just curious to know why is there a limit.

I thought that the line saying quote didn't count?

Reaktor4, point taken. But that is spamming. I'm just saying... why, not raise the limit up to 5?
If it's been like this for years, I understand, and will stop talking about it.

If it got raised to 5 how do you know the same thing wouldn't happen?

"5 lines sucks, why not raise it to 6?"

Then 7, 8...where do you draw the line? (No pun intended.)

Its good at 4, its not exactly a hard rule to keep so I don't see why people have to go over it, a signature isn't supposed to be a mini-biography.

I'll let quotes going over slide because the word "Quote:" is pretty small. And quite useless come to think of it.

My sigs been 50 billion lines for like a year! ANd nobody has caught me yet!....

wait, that's a different forum. Yeah, I noticed the peopel with larger than 4 lines, but it never bothered me, so I don't say much

it's part of the community, 4 lines is enough.

4 lines for teh win. And if anyone asks me to shorten mine I will. :p
