Largest earthquake in 50 years.

That's nasty, still if it would have happened in the western world it would have been a catastrophe, now it's just an incident. That's the scary part.

That is the problem with the western world, millions of African's die in Genocide in a single year, and it is a localised incident. A few thousand Westerner's die on 11th September, it is a major news event a huge catastrophe that should be avenged at all costs.
 
I have a friend who went to Sri Lanka this year. Hope she's not one of the 2000 dead.

Lots of swedes travelling to Phuket (Thailand) during the winter holidays. Everybody knows someone who's been to or is in Phuket. Right now there's an estimated 15-20 000 swedish tourists in our around Phuket.Those poor bastards got sucked out in the ocean. :(

My friend was in Phuket a few weeks ago, was worried that he was still there but just found out he flew to Brisbane. He is going around the world, so he was lucky.
 
9 on Richter, very severe when you consider that it's a logarithmic scale, and a magnitude 9 is 10 times heavier than a magnitude 8 and so forth...

According to Norwegian newspapers, there is around 10.000 dead. It is horrible :(

I was watching a show on the history channel about biblical disasters...weird part was it was talking about earthquakes and how god did this and that with them.Then I changed the channel to fox news to see that over 1,000 people in asia died from an earthquake.

I was like....what the ****?!?!?! :O

2 people my dad know pretty good are in thailand. According to finnish news sources a number of finnish people are in hospital there, but no one in critical condition or dead.
