From the news we've heard on Left 4 Dead 2 since it was announced, Valve have told us that it will ship with 5 campaigns (all of which will support versus). We saw Parish to begin with, then Swamp Fever and most recently Dark Carnival. The remaining 2 have been unknown (including the opening campaign) but it seems today the last 2 posters have been leaked on a Taiwan website. They are:
  • Dead Center - A mall campaign with the tagline - Prices aren't the Only things getting Slashed
  • Hard Rain - Industrial setting around a refinery with the tagline - Come Hell and High Water
Hard Rain is likely to utilise the new AI director's ability to control weather, whereas Dead Center is set to fill that much anticipated mall setting players have demanded.[br]The campaigns are linked with a more developed storyline this time round, so can we work out the order in which they will play in? See the posters below.[br]

whenever i see any images of the skinny white dude all i think is

BONK.

About time we get a damn mall campaign.

In the Hard Rain poster, what is Coach holding? I know the poster weapons are always a bit odd, but that almost looks like a M249 or somthing like that.

I thought it was something heavy initially but I think it's just an assault shotgun now, with a flashlight attachment unfortunately.

Anyone noticed Ellis has an arm missing in the Dead Center one? :p

Maybe it gets lost in one of the finales and you have to play the last campaign with one arm.

I like this 'Come Hell and High Water' tagline... Will we be able to swim in L4D2??? Guess not considering that ferry crescendo in the Swamp Fever campaign... What's wrong with these post apocalypse guys... The virus made the water unswimmable??? About this 'Dead Center' campaign... It seems that Shopping Malls won't be such an inspiration for custom campaigns no more... Damn, on of mine is based on that -.-
But Dawn before Dead should still rock ;)

You can never have too many shopping malls!

Hey, Rochelle in the Dead Center poster is holding a Chainsaw in one hand and a Machete in the other =o

Their faces look exactly the same.

Not quite as bad as the 3-handed Zoey from the No Mercy poster.

Well, no, because there isn't actually any error here. :p

Looking forward to Hard Rain, personally. Love industrial settings and the green tones in that poster are lovely. Mmmm.

I wonder what the two remaining Uncommon Common infected will be.

I hope there are escalators and shopping trolleys and shop window-dummies to fool you into thinking they are zombies. Amazing.

Just wanted to mention that the front page is looking very snazzy and vibrant at the moment. A mixture between well formatted news posts and generally eye-catching design make the whole place very appealing. Until you meet the forum regulars and it all goes down hill from there. Just figured you guys don't get enough praise so.. :)

Wow, I see this "Hard Rain" campaign being designed around an industrial setting, and I see the "Dead Center" campaign being set around a shopping mall, and I just go all facepalm. Unless Valve are trying to be completely trite with their campaign titles, "Dead Center" given to the industrial campaign would've given a nice bit of irony. Of course, "Dead CENTER" is cute for a mall I guess, what with the different shopping centers and all, but "Dead Center" for the industrial campaign would've been wonderfully subtle and original.

Ah well, no big deal.

Holy shit. That deserves its own news thread. Defibrillator? What the ****. I guess it confirms the clowns as uncommon common too.

I wonder if they are getting rid of respawn closets entirely, the mechanic was good, but it was a bit odd when people could come across their own body somtimes.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I never really cared for the respawn closets, they worked fine for gameplay, but as you said, the premise of finding a 'new survivor' is pretty silly and was another one of those immersion killers. I'm pretty sure I've never seen any closets in gameplay vids, so it's possible.

I was just looking at this screenshot again.

If you look closely, they are filling up a car that appears to be on a plinth surrounded by a rope barrier, the surrounding area seems to be a multi-level building interior with barriers and indoor plants.

So it looks like that screenshot is inside the Mall (I bet someone else has noticed that already). I know allot of shopping mall's often have car's on display in them, but it does remind me of the old Dawn of the Dead movie, where they use the display car to navigate the lower level.

I will even go out on a limb, and say the Car is the escape vehicle for the first campaign! It would lead nicely into Dark Carnival starting on a road. Just a theory mind you.

My speculative theory is that Dead Center doesn't have any Tier 2 weapons in it at all, just pistols, T1s and melee weapons. All four survivors are carrying melee weapons in the poster, and the tagline directly references a melee weapon. From a pacing standpoint, it would make sense to feature more powerful weapons in later campaigns.

I think on some of the new gameplay videos, you can see the display car at the begining of DC.

That's probably because they always play on Easy or Normal in the videos, so no-one ever really dies in them, or if they do the video doesn't continue long enough for them to find the closet. I can't remember if they showed it in pre-release L4D videos, but if they did it was probably only for the sake of showing it.
