Hi guys,
I'm contemplating building a new system with an Athlon 64 and SLi ready (though only buying one card initially).

I came across the 256MB Leadtek WinFast PX6800 LE TDH 6800 LE and obviously it's very very cheap considering it's a 6800.

Naturally, there's going to be some sort of detriment to the performance or quality considering its low price so does anyone know what it might be in this case? Is it worth it for the price or should I go for a more expensive one like a Gigabye or a Sapphire?

I think, but not totally sure, that the 6800LE doesn't use all the pipelines that the 6800GT & Ultra uses, and also its memory is DDR3 and not GDDR3 (Might be the same thing, but once again, i'm not sure) so it could be slower in that sense too. If I was building an SLI system I would probably save alittle more and get a 6800GT, one now and then one later, but thats my preference. You should check out some benchmarks for that chip to see how it performs. I think that i remember seeing benchmarks with that card and the 6600GT and it was actually faster than the 6800LE, so maybe something to think about there too.

The 6800LE has only 8 pipelines, and yes the 6600GT would most likely be faster.

But you can unlock the piplelines. I did using riva tuner. And there is a HUGE performance boost as well.
So yeah Chris go for it. Then once you have it O/C it and unlock the pipes. You'll get great performance cheap. :)

The 6800 has 12 pipes and I know those you can try to unlock. But you can actually unlock the 8 pipeline 6800LE to a full 16 pipes?

I have that exact card. Works wonders, never had a problem with it...just remember to clean that grate once every few months to stop the dust from covering it all.

Edit: I don't have the LE version, just the normal version.
