If the rumors that HL2 has been postponed until 2004 are true, did the leak just give Valve an easy out to explaining why the game wouldn't be ready for Nov/Dec?
In other words, was Valve planning to postpone to April 2004 anyway? If so, they wouldn't make this announcement until Nov~Dec. The leak and the beta may have just sped up this announcement timetable.
It doesn't take 4 extra months to rewrite some cd-key algorithms, and a few scripts. I guess if the programmers at valve took a 4 month vacation starting now, the 7 month postponement may be justified.
BTW, Max Payne 2 (which uses the same Havoc physics engine HL2 uses) comes out next Wednesday, the 15th. So there's at least something to satiate my and my 9800's hunger for DX9 games.
