Leaked PS3 controller picture RELEASED

How does sony come up with innovation after innovation?
If they come out with wireless controllers as the default, well I may have to buy a ps3 even though I hate sony with a passion! (for no reason)

That's actually a hologram, you press the buttons with your mind.

Just wait 'til it rumbles, HEADRUSH!

Heh, I just read the thread before looking at the picture and was actually expecting something cool... :p

jesus, Sony has the craziest ideas... what a leap of faith! I hope current PS2 players can handle the difference in controls..

same here :( oh well its true though

Thats really funny....not! I wont care if they would use the Dual-Shock2 and call it the Dual-Shock3. Its the best controller out there..end of discution..

It's funny that almost every PC joypad has copied the design, give or take a few buttons. Total perfection.

That is the third-worst[/i] controller I've ever seen.

The runner-up prize goes to the original Microsoft Xbox controller, while the grand prize of Worst Controller Ever goes to the Nintendo Entertainment System controller.

Simply because all three of those are terribly uncomfortable to hold. On second thought, the PS2 (okay, who am I kidding, the PS1 controller) should take the cake, as the buttons are too far apart and the analog controls are in a horrible position for first-person shooters.

The nes controller was great for its time.

Amen! All shoudl hate sony with a passion!

soo that gonna be the controller of the PS3?

well is the most confortable design IMO, but I will like to see another design

I had a wireless controller for my original Nintendo. Because im cool like that, didnt work past 8 ft, but i could play along with Pacman

there were controllers like that before playstation . . . it's actually a very very very standard design. i have a really old [gameport] pc gamepad and it has a dpad on the left, buttons on the right, buttons in the middle etc.

meh. its a good controller design, but i just dont like the hundles too much. Gamcube is the comfort master for controllers. mmm fits like a glove

Yes, but this time will there be four of them?

To quote Edge: "It's rumoured that it'll be an amorphous cloud and have four controller ports"

I agree, the Gamecube controller is the height of comfort and the buttons are perfectly shaped and positioned for any serious gamer.

And is it just me, or despite the size the Dreamcast controller was one of the best designed controllers in terms of ease and comfort?

THANK you to the person who mentioned the FPS analogue! I've argued so many people that the PS analogue positioning is just awful, and that the best controller for FPS actually turned out to be the N64 (closest to a mouse/keyboard combo with the 'Honey' setup in Goldeneye - analogue to look around and c-buttons for move/strafe). They're just too close together to be useful on the Sony design.
I hate sony for being as bad as EA in the console market.

This most certainly is not the end of discussion. The PS2 controller feels cheap and tacky compared to the Xbox S controller. In my opinion, there's absolutely no competition between the two.

However, the N64 controller reigns supreme. Circle strafing was a dream with it in Goldeneye/PD, I love the C-buttons ;)

QFT and QFE.

The n64 controller in my mind is still the best controller...ever.Only if nintendo would bring it back or someone made a mod to where you could use it on any system. :(

Yeah, and adding a rumble pack to the back of it gave it the perfect weight. Heh, I became so attached to that method that if I played on a controller without one, I couldn't concentrate because it was so light.

I didn't like the rumble pack very much...it did help in terms of balance, but damn I couldn't stand the shaking.

I thought it would be pretty cool to feel the controller shake when you shoot or get shot at in goldeneye.Instead it just messed up my aim a little and I couldn't concentrate.

So I got rid of it.

Yes N64 controller + rumble pack = teh win!!11. But seriously, after the rumble pack broke, i still kept it on cause it felt too weird without the extra weight :D . Oh yea and I like the xbox controller, fits perfectly, deffinitely not too big like I hear many people bitching about. Either I have huge hands, or everyone else has small girly hands... (no offense to any females out there, heh.)

also read whole thread first - any chance brodie you just got a PS2 controller pic...ah disappointment...

The xbox controller pwns it. It is much easier to aim and move with the joysticks on an xbox controller.

The problem with the dual shock is the massive (in comparison to other pads) 'dead zone' with both analogue sticks.

They can't begin to offer the precise control that the GC and Xbox pads offer (or the N64 and DC pads for that matter) This is a fact.

Not that this is much of a problem - there's very few (if any) PS2 games use analogue movement well anyway.

IMO the analogue thumbsticks of the PS2 control are not bad for FPS
but sometimes when I need to press the buttons while my to fingers are using the thumbstikcs is a bit dificult but not big deal

and for the xbox control and gamecube control the xbox control is confortable too especcially the litle one and the gamecube is amazing simple and confortable but sometimes I confuse whit the buttons, the N64 controller was a bit anoyign it was like hold a gun whit a controller sticked and the dreamcast controller IMO was very squared but I didnt hav problem whit both of them

Why would it matter if the PS3 controller was like that? Not to mention its the most useful and best controller accross all consoles anyway, even the PS1's first controllers are better than the Xbox controllers.

Would you rather them change the shape and placement of the keys on every keyboard you buy or all keyboards the same?

Thats it!I'm gonna make an n64 style controller that works with the ps2 and xbox! \o/

Oh wait...No money.Damn. ;(

Imo the N64 controller was not that good. It was an okay control but it felt kinda weird to use. And that little joystick would always break and get worn after a while..
