Learning map

I found that to learn hammer you must experiment with known methods, and find some out on your own.

So I made a room... Then a corridor... Then another.

The made a sliding door...

And so on...

Then I did more experimenting, and added souds to doors, Carved alot..

Skyboxes, But above all, the process for making a map.
Then came the ai ( My favorite)

I made a metro cop throw a man hack when he saw me, Learned about info nodes, AND hint nodes and how to use them to make the ai smarter.

Learned to make ai invulnerable.
I made a fully functional strider.
Mastered ai spawning, and combine repelling, In all situations.

I also learned ai scheduling, proper alignment of texture and how to proporly stage a fight between 2 forces.

Even learned video monitors.
Teleporting too.

I made a part in my level where there is a phys_box grating, and when somthing happens, Five rotated well placed wooden beams break, It falls , and a combine shottgunner rappells.

I have never felt this much of a scence of acomplishment EVER.

Now I came here to ask...

How do I make zombies sleep then awake?
Apparently you can do so with striders too.
The Suprise I think its called.

I believe that there's an option in the NPC's properties that sets them to sleep, and you can set what wakes them up.

What's the best way to do a door that rotates on the hinges and the handle moves when the player walks up and presses the use key, like what valve has in the single player? There are no instances of doors like this in the maps they give us.

Heres my "Learning map" I kept adding on, and adding on, and adding on, till It became this, and trust me, this is nothing yet.

Umm... I meant where they are laying down then they get up to suprise you.

And the other dude... I dunno, haven't tried yet, seems easy though.

If it was there I would of found it.

Thats great! When did you start with hammer?

If you could make some tutorials about what you can, that will help me and some other too :)

Not looked into it but off the top of my head im guessing they might be triggered to wake up but before that just playing the idle/sleep animation, then when you get close enough or shoot at them it wakes them up and then they get up and come after you.

Yea I got it to work but its buggy... Mainly due to my horrible scripting skills ha.

Tutorials?

I could, but with what? I'm mainly hoping on ai respawing, and ai in general.
