LEarning SDK- great tutorial

I already tried Hammer, but it's waaayyy too buggy and unfinished to be of any use. I can't imagine how Valve managed to get any mapping done with it.

Well, they seemed to be able to slap something together...

Hahaha, I don't know what you're talking about. It's a beautiful utility. I think you don't know how gooed you have it. Try mapping (or doing anything for that matter) for Call of Duty.

I've used Hammer since version 1.5 or 1.6 (Worldcraft)... The current version of Hammer is too full of bugs to be used.

Have you used it since HL2 was unlocked? That fixed some of the issues/features...

Spartan:

What bugs are you referring to? I've been using Hammer since 1996 (I bought it!) and it's got a damn sight less bugs than it used to.

Alpha masking doesn't work (unless you like using notepad), running the map from Hammer doesn't work, placing entities doesn't work (for me), CSS is unstable. I think there were other bugs mentioned as well on a few sites.

Fanboys need to get it together and learn the difference between hating something and criticising something.

Haven't tried alpha masking (although all alpha textures show up as transparent in the 3d view)

I never, ever, ever run the map from Hammer. You might as well take 300Mb and a slice of CPU out of your system. I used to use TBCC for compiling maps for HL. Now I use custom batch files.

Never had a problem with placing entities.

CSS?

Someone disagreeing with you isn't automatically a fanboy.

Even i was able to place entities, and i had only used it this time. I made a box that looked like a jail made out of physgun beams :p

entities were made without problems. So i guess i can join the "Not using a buggy hammer editor" -group

yeah- i'd like to see more of these. if anyone finds something, plz post...
