[br]Left 4 Dead 2 has been given an MA 15+ rating after it was refused classification last month.[br]

according to the classification board report, the modified version removes amounts of gore from gameplay, it no longer contains depictions of decapitations, dismemberment, wound detail, or piles of bodies lying about the environment. And is now able to be accommodated within the MA15+ classification.[br]

Valve are also appealing the original classification decision and still hope to release Left 4 Dead 2 in Australia in its original. The appeal ruling is expected to be made on October 22.

Where is this classification report saying that piles of bodies and the like are removed? I haven't seen this information anywhere else, last I heard Gabe Newell said they weren't commented on what has been removed until the appeal process is over.

So L4D2 is now far, far less gory than even L4D1. **** this country indeed.

Evidently the process is over.

Someone sent me the PDF file for the report.

I just can't beleive decapitations and dismemberement were removed, considering they were in the first game. So much is wrong here.

But... Alas, sad face. Hopefully the appeal process works.

Wouldn't this direct sales to online if the appeal didn't work? Since I know there's ways around it.
Poor economy.

Anyone have experience with restoring censored Source games? If it's as easy as coping the proper files over the censored versions I won't go to the bother of getting my hands on an American copy.

I highly doubt it'd be that easy. I'm pretty sure Steam overwrites files everytime it starts up or something like that?

I wonder how many Australian retail pre-orders have been cancelled...

It's more easier than that. My mate in Germany set his Steam to English and his location in the UK and he got the uncensored version. Swapping the files won't work cause Steam will either ignore them or delete them.
What happened to consistency? How can Left4Dead get away with decapitations, dismemberment, wound detail, or piles of bodies lying about the environment and Left4Dead 2 can't.

Because it is much more graphic in L4D2 and the ability to chop lots of zombies with the axe wasn't popular with them.

Yeah but i still don't see how blasting a zombies head of with a shotgun is worse than chopping it of with a axe. The piles of dead zombies are no more graphic than in Left4Dead. I'd understand if they would want the violence toned down to the level of Left4Dead but having to remove them completely to me makes no sense.

I take it you guys have never used custom skins/models. Superficial changes like that will be fine providing the server doesn't enforce strict adherence to the originals. I'm more concerned with changes like decapitation which have more of a programming aspect to them.

This is a censored version that Valve submitted, in a bid to be ready in Australia for the release date they probably erred on the side of caution for many things.

Yep, I like my games vanilla!

No idea how custom skins/models work but there are other ways to get around it. Could try pimpin's suggestion or get someone from EU or the US to gift it to you.

Yeah i'll wait until the 22nd and if it doesn't pass, get someone to gift me a US version or something. I don't want to miss out on the awesome gore(some).

This is the only game i have ever wanted to not be banned and it's good that it has been reclassified

Wow. You guys have no consistency with any censorship in your country.
