Just in time for the public release, Valve have put together a good update fixing many issues people have been having with the demo.
  • Tuned matchmaking to provide better search results
  • Added UI to host a game on a local server
  • Improvements and performance optimizations to network layer
  • Improved handling of unsupported graphics hardware
  • Fixed a rare crash when kicking people from lobby
  • Fixes for demo exploits
  • Localization fixes
  • Increase automatic port range when running a Linux dedicated server with -fork
Some great fixes for some major issues in this update. As usual folks, restart your engines!

So we can host our own online servers now? I really hope so!

When are they going to put back in the old "Find Server" option? I'm tired of typing in "openserverbrowers" :p

I'm glad to see there's the ability to create a local server. It was the only thing I particularly wanted with an update, and I'm glad it's fixed.

Cheers to Valve.

I halfway expected them to fix the whole "Jump off the roof onto the vent" thing, but I wonder if it's deliberate...?

It may not be a demo priority, fixing it would mean pushing out a new version of the map, which is quite a bit bigger than updating some of the config stuff. I could be wrong, but I wouldnt be surprised to see it fixed in the full release.

I am the only one who cant connect to steam? :(

Very true. I figured it wouldn't be too hard to remove those vents or something, though. I dunno, it's not BAD, because..well, meh. Oh well, I was just saying lol

It's a risky game taking that jump. Many a time I have jumped to short and to my death. :)

I assumed that's what they meant by exploits...
