Left 4 Dead gameplay and other stuff!!!

idk, in my experience, speed gives games a hole new sytle of intensity, so i think this will just be a nice change of pace really. . . and man this game looks good. . .

I do like how much it looks like 28 Days Later, but I'm in two minds about which kind of zombie attack I would like. I do like the original shambling horde style, but this is going to be so much scarier. Shit, I cannot wait for this one.

lol the guy was like "boomer..blast.....arggghhh". Sounded like the cheesy voices that you hear in FPS games all the time. It needs more polish. What they should do in my opinion is slowing it down considerably. The zombies run faster than a car and so do you. I mean how are you gonna move around inside buildings that fast or aim? There was a clip in which the guy used a shotty and missed a zombie because it was going way too fast. It just needs more polish it looks like and an adjustment on speed. Because right now it looks like a modified version of the zombie mod for cs imo. *Oh yeah and the characters are too skinny. **Also the hunter has like some super jump ability like the Matrix.

i absolutely love how the zombies run!!
and being able to fire your pistol when you're on the ground waiting for assistance is sweet too
this game is gonna kick ass

It's cool that the zombies run, but they are faster than crackheads.

So they played Marathon, did they? It's always nice to notice little things like that.

I don't want to say the Infected look too fast, because that's what makes this game extremely interesting to me, but I can forsee a "realism" mod coming out in which run speed for them is slowed slightly.

The gameplay looks incredible though.

I thought they said that the survivors would have to rely on civilian weapons for most of the fighting, get in that vid they seemed to be tooled up to the hilt with stuff like uzis.

Agreed! Call the game off, GAME IS CANCELLED, they have an UZI I AM ANGRY.

I havent been excited about any games for awhile now...
This game excites me... down in my funny place
o.O

You heard one little sound clip of that voice and are already criticizing it? Wow.
I've listened to it pretty carefully a couple times and I think it sounds pretty good.

Just wait till ya play the game to pass judgment like that. :)

And I dont know why everyone is saying the game looks too fast. Have you been ignoring what this is all about? 28 Days Later style zombies, people! Besides, your not going to CONSTANTLY be assaulted by waves of them. The AI Director will clam things down when your getting too stressed.

Can't wait for this one. Should be just a lot of fun staying up late playing this.

meh im disappointed at the fast zombies, i like traditional old slow zombies

I'm glad they're the fast zombies. After getting a big helping of the slow, stupid, shambling variety in Dead Rising I'm ready for a faster-paced challenge.

I really want to see the AI that they are raving about. If it's as good as it sounds it'll kick ass.

Slow Zombies would be absolutely boring. If any of you play the zombie mod for CS:S you know what I'm talking about. A lot of people want slow zombies because they don't want a challange and think shooting something looks cool or whatever. I want a challange, I want to savor every precious round I have with a pucker factor thru the roof and screaming while I play.

Only thing I wanna see (which could already be in there) are more suburban areas, rather than congested urban levels. I wanna run thru a grocery store, diner, houses, etc.

Some more practical guns would be nice too. Wonder if they're going to develop any other areas, like vehicles, barricading and game types.

I R EXCITED :D

Wow!~ This Shit Looks Insane!!!

Cant Wait!

cool. but the player speed is WAY TOO FAST.

I think the zombies' speeds are nice, but the player looks like its constantly moving at 30mph.

There's a good reason for fast player movement, I think. The zombies are so fast that you really have to be able to move to survive. And if the zombies were slower they'd be easy to hit, and they die easily. The zombies need to be FAST, because most gamers have lightning fast reflexes. Survivors have to be fast too, so you don't feel sluggish in comparison. It needs to make you feel like you're running like hell.

Edit: forgot to mention, apparently players slow down significantly as their health gets lower.

I really don't think it will feel all that fast once you start playing for a lil bit and its in full screen on your compy.

I like the player speed that I saw in the footage. It was quick but it didn't look extreme to me. Matches the tension that is in the game. A lot of parts they showed when moving weren't that quick anyway.

I mean it's not CS where everyone has guns so running faster won't help you get away. The enemies here don't have guns so they get in your face. Obstacles, the narrow alleys, getting all 4 through a door way quickly...closed spaces in general look like they would slow you down and build up the tension. But, it seems to me, actually having a slower run speed than the footage shows would suck in this game.

I agree, and I don't think that fast gameplay will hurt teamplay. True, if it it's extremely fast with things like bunny hopping, rocket jumping and weapon spam flying everywhere teamplay is pretty difficult, because you can turn around and they guy that was just next to you a second ago could have hurled himself halfway across the map or ended up a pile of gibs at your feet. It probably won't be like that in L4D because survivors won't die easily and will have to learn to wait for their comrades if they want to make it to the end. Some of the best teamwork I've had in a game was in Wolfenstien: Enemy Territory, and that game was pretty fast by today's standards. Not Quakeworld fast, but definitely not slow. The constant awareness of teammates, sharing medkits and reviving from bleed outs is going to help a lot, too.

I thought it looked amazing. I'm also glad the zombies are fast, it'd be too easy if they were slow. And it's obviously not a bad thing and fun to play if they guys from 1up had such a great time playing it by the sounds of things.

Can't wait for this!

Can't say I'm particually excited about the weapons you start with, though. The UZI just looks and sounds horrible (not a game thing, I mean I just hate the weapon) and I don't think it's the appropriate zombie-killing type of weapon. The shotgun is a must but in the video, in the streets atleast, it looked next to useless.

The only good thing that I saw is that the zombies don't run straight toward you, that'll make it harder to kill them. Got to be a good thing.

What I say to do is slow down the running speed of the zombies just a tad bit. They run faster than they did when they were living. Also the the survivors should be slowed down a lot. If you are running slower than the zombies the tension will be much greater. Right now it looks like you can circle strafe the zombies all day long.

hahaha, the boomer fat zombie looks Fun. LOLOLOLOLL

Looks like it'll be fast-paced co-op zombie killing fun.
:D

Although, I don't like the idea of it mainly all being running zombies... where's the classic slow-moving Night of the Living Dead zombies?!

Yeah the 411 guys are saying 1UP sped up and slowed down the clips all the time. They also said the sound quality was terrible. So until we actually get a real gameplay video, I will base my ideas off that. ;)

It would be cool if a survivor can start turning 'infected' after coming into contact with zombie slobber. Zombie AI would gradually wrestle control from the player over the course of the game, until they lose control altogether and become a zombie - OR choose to turn the gun on themselves for the saftey of the team.

There's so much potential for dramatic scenarios in this game! :D

players are apparentley "naturally immune" to the disease.
