Left 4 Dead gameplay and other stuff!!!

Agreed! Call the game off, GAME IS CANCELLED, they have an UZI I AM ANGRY.

No, not that bad, but from the earlier descriptions it seemed that getting your mits on full auto weapons and other military grade hardware would be a rare an special thing because most of the time you'd have more civilian type weapons like double barrel or pump action shotguns, bolt/lever action & semi auto rifles and handguns. Most of the time in that vid they seemed to be tooled up with more firepower than a small 3rd world contry.

Can't say I'm particually excited about the weapons you start with, though. The UZI just looks and sounds horrible (not a game thing, I mean I just hate the weapon) and I don't think it's the appropriate zombie-killing type of weapon. The shotgun is a must but in the video, in the streets atleast, it looked next to useless.

I quite like Uzis, personally, but I agree with you, they dont fit. Sure, this game is set in the US (isnt it?) where there are full auto weapons in civilian hands, but they're still fairly rare and I feel rather take away from the civilian feel of the survivor group.

here is a You tube link, it's much faster then game videos.

I think the game looks really beautiful. BTW is the IP owned by Turtle Rock or Valve. And how is the game financed.

The new lighting system looks awesome, and I'm in love with the fast paced gameplay already.

GODDAMNIT I'M HYPED! When is this game out again?

did you guys notice how many models L4D reuses straight from HL2 and CSS?

i will never understand most developers obsession about total conversions and taking years to replace every little model. dont you also feel sick to see mod updates about a new friggin chair rendering? for godsake, we wont even sit on the godamn chairs! what difference does it make?

back in old HL1 days we had lots of fun mods released all the time. nowadays there's half a dozen HL2 mods in 2.5 years, even worst most other mods under development look like "CSS clones with better furniture".

i hope mods learn the lesson to focus on what really matters: create an original gameplay and release it sooner, instead of holding the mod for years to work on stuff nobody cares about. jeez.

Sometimes due to the environment, style, and type of game, a model will be unusable. Valve does reuse assets in its games, but when there's a few years between when the model and textures were created, and a game doesn't come out for a while, then the technical limits were increased which means you probably could give that chair more polies and higher res texture or else it would stick out like a sore thumb from the newly created assets.

Anyways, this is a pre-order and must buy. Game is so amazing!

Also a lot of people use mods as a way to build up their portfolio, and they want to show of their mapping and modeling skills.

Seeing this vid just made me took this game off my games-to-buy list. Just seems too fast for a game like this. I don`t mind the fast zombies: they look better than anything I`ve seen in a zombie game, but the UT kind of moving and all that. Well, I`m prolly still gonna buy it, but in hopes of someone making a mod that changes the speeds n s*it

i fail to see how they expect to show their skills by not releasing anything until the mod gets cancelled

that happens all the time

why not release the mod with whatever maps and models they have before its too late?

people seem to only care more about "look my mod site has better model renderings than you do", its like they dont really care about the game and dont worry about releasing anything, while players like me keep commenting how awesome looks a mod that we will never have a chance to play anyway

Well even if the mod is not released they can still use what they made in their portfolio, plus most of them would not care to work for a mod that doesn't let them make their own custom content.
A lot of people bitch about reusing hl2 content, I can't tell you how much time I read people bitching about a map or mod reusing some hl2 content, remember what happened with Sin. Goddammit did people bitch and moan about it's hl2 content.

It wasn't the reused content that ruined SiN. The game just sucked.

Why are people calling this a mod? I was under the impression that it's a full game.

It is, but we have a habit of categorizing any Source games as TC mods, and this does look more like a really ****in' good mod rather than a brand new game like Dark Messiah or something. It doesn't matter anyway.

I think the movement looks great, the zombies look awesome running like that, and UT style FPS isn't a problem really.

Whether or not it seems like a "mod" should be irrelevant, because mods can easily reach and often surpass the quality of commercial games, and vice-versa.

If it's fun to play, and it'll hold your attention for a couple of weeks at the very least, then buy it. That's how I roll. *flashes a gang sign*

.....wtf.

Don't make a comment like that until you play it.
I didn`t like it= off the list till its out and I see what it is really like, also mods that change some things I`d like different.

Another comment like that.

i wonder if you can get dragged across the ground while shooting, dawn of the dead remake style.

lol the guy was like "boomer..blast.....arggghhh". Sounded like the cheesy voices that you hear in FPS games all the time. It needs more polish. What they should do in my opinion is slowing it down considerably. The zombies run faster than a car and so do you. I mean how are you gonna move around inside buildings that fast or aim? There was a clip in which the guy used a shotty and missed a zombie because it was going way too fast. It just needs more polish it looks like and an adjustment on speed. Because right now it looks like a modified version of the zombie mod for cs imo. *Oh yeah and the characters are too skinny. **Also the hunter has like some super jump ability like the Matrix.

How can you say that when the people who have actually played it say it's great? I would have thought it would be slower too, but apparently, this works.

Nope, you don't get to be moved while you're on the ground. You're just stuck on the ground firing at anything that comes close (and it looks really cool when zombies are towering over you) until a friend saves you.

Oh, and remember that 1up artificially sped up and slowed down the video to get it all into their timeframe.

tomorrow, but all preorders are sold out so you won't see it in stores for a few months.

I was under the immpression that the main developer was Turtle Rock and that about 2 people from Valve were involved :\

Most of the Valve employees are working on their own titles, but some are helping out with L4D.

Valve does the playtesting and all that though company-wide, because they're good at that stuff too.
